Re: WELCOME TO THE AUGUST EXERCISE THREAD

@DrKelli I am so sorry! It sounds like you are managing it well but it's the last thing anyone needs right now. And yes, I missed you every day although it sounds like a very productive week sans Covid. Smiley Happy I didn't think they let you fly with it so I am glad you got home. That's been a big reason of why I haven't traveled in I can't even remember when.

I think I have finally rid myself of my sinus infection a month later. That was no joke. I think my humidifier that I am still using is really helping me out. I have gone a few days now without a sneezing fit in the mornings. I have never gone through so many tissues in all my life. Usually the three pack tissue box pack is good for a year at my place not four weeks.

Take care of yourself and glad to see your posts again.  Heart

@bopper That's funny since I plan to make mashed sweet potatoes tomorrow. A lot of the pressure cooker recipes include meat which is a bit much for the budget right now so I'm still searching.

Something I've made all week that is really good is black beans with a vegan cheese sauce and riced vegetables cajun seasoned.

I used canned black beans and Vegan Valley cheddar sauce (made from cashews) and steamed riced sweet potatoes and cauliflower. I think Green Giant makes that. Mix it all together and season (I like Cajun) and you have a nice bean bowl. I even bought tortilla chips to eat it with.

You don't have to do the vegan sauce (any cheese dip or sauce will do) and rice instead of the vegetables to make it more what you would find out. Cheap and healthy.

I've also mixed beans with jarred salsa and heated that. Toss in a bit of sour cream and some cheese if you want and you have another filling easy meal that's cheap to make. Kind of a poor man's chili.

That sounds good, thanks you for the ideas!

Re: WELCOME TO THE AUGUST EXERCISE THREAD

Monday again, I did a 20 minute cycle workout just through the woods on my computer not outside, then 30 on the reformer and 10 on the chair.  Just came in from a dog walk and this time I did remember my bear spray. I'm still afraid though.

@Laura14 those ideas are great I wouldn't have thought to mix salsa and beans and then sour cream. Good luck with the Mamo.  I have mine scheduled for October and I am always afraid.   I have a BP check on Thursday because mine is high and I started on meds and have been taking it at home but it's still running 140/90 so I am sure she will increase my dose.  Only taking 10mg.

@DrKelli so sorry you have the dreaded C now!   I hope that is the only symptoms you get.  My sis had it also and it was the cold symptoms and sinus stuff.

@bopper I am off to it now. I hate people touching me and I hate this place the most. What they did to me on my first callback scarred me for life. I haven't had an exam in 3 years and I didn't return for my last callback (third one!) so I expect attitude. The things we do for health! Smiley Very Happy

Re: WELCOME TO THE AUGUST EXERCISE THREAD

Hi all.  My stylus tip broke and I can't put my hands on my Apple Pencil and can't type well with my fingers.  Anyway...

@DrKelli, looks like that Covid, although mild, is going around again.  Glad you're ok.  My brother-in-law has it, too.  Thirty people on his job currently have it.  Glad you aren't too uncomfortable.  At least you live alone so no at home isolating needed.  Let's be honest...there no way we can be completely sanitized every minute.  When I grocery shopping, I touch so many things!  I get in the car to go home and try to remember to grab the hand sanitizer right away but usually I lock myself in, start my car up, buckle up first.  Hopefully we're building up an immunity to it.  As long as it's mild, I might prefer Covid to Monkeypox, though....yuk.

Storm just started....early afternoon and it's dark out.  Have a good evening everyone.

Re: WELCOME TO THE AUGUST EXERCISE THREAD

Good Morning!

I have done nothing except run myself ragged this morning. I hate neverending doctor appointments and all the new tests you have to go through as you get older. Boo on this nonsense!

I guess the imaging center heard I was coming because they were quite nice with me yesterday. Of course I knew that's an automatic call back and, sure enough, they still want me to do an ultrasound on the cyst they found three years ago that I refused to come back and do. Since my insurance is better now, I am going to let them have their extra money. I go back tomorrow afternoon for that joy and waste of time.

I also had to do Cologuard and that was all kinds of fun. Ran that to UPS this morning.

And I still have an eye doctor appointment to make too. It's like a part time job!

Throwing out some more meal ideas, I LOVE Simple Mills. They are a gluten free brand and they have bread and pizza dough mixes that I live for. It's literally add eggs, oil and vinegar, stir and bake and voila! You have flatbread pizza crust or dinner rolls or bread loaf if you prefer.

I make the dinner rolls and they become sliders. For lunch I mixed some tuna and made three tuna sliders for lunch. Last night I did PB&J sliders. Easy and quick. They fit perfectly in my Lock n Lock divided containers too.

Anyway, I will do something exercise tonight. Although I have gotten credit for my steps and running around. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Re: WELCOME TO THE AUGUST EXERCISE THREAD

Hi everyone!  Still not feeling 100%--a lot of fatigue and still have a snotty nose, but am getting better.  No workout again today just because I don't think I have the stamina.  I did walk my dogs this morning and am enjoying the cooler weather. (at least in the morning--by afternoon, we are in the 90s.)

Just trying to get through the week so I can have some downtime this weekend.  Unfortunately, I do have to go to the pharmacy this morning to pick up a prescription that I called in over the weekend.  Technically, I am supposed to be in quarantine for one more day, but need to get this precription picked up.

Appetite is coming back, but I don't eat very much at each meal.

Hope you all have a very nice day!

Re: WELCOME TO THE AUGUST EXERCISE THREAD

Happy Tuesday, today I did almost an hour on the reformer and it was no joke! I was sweating buckets, and fatigued.

Then doggie walk later on.  We're in the mid 70's and the humidity is lighter so it's a good day.

@Laura14  I sure hope your ultrasound is fine and the colon test.  I have a colonscopy in March, and I hate it.  Mammogram in October.

@DrKelli hopefully you are on the upswing but take it slow.

Keep pushing everyone!

Re: WELCOME TO THE AUGUST EXERCISE THREAD

Happy last day of August. I am so excited for Fall. Working through this week to get to my Holiday weekend. I need the extra day off.

Did a bike ride and Amazon is very happy with me. Apparently I am in the top tier for my age group for the week. I will take it.

Off to work and the nonsense appointment and then back to work and finally home today. I can't wait to climb back in bed. I have been sleeping well but I have been having stress dreams which I can do without. I have enough in my waking life.

Have a great Wednesday all. Throw some of that cooler weather my way please. I want Fall! 🍂

Re: WELCOME TO THE AUGUST EXERCISE THREAD

Good morning everyone.. Thought  I would add a different body part not behaving and possible discuss.  Its my heel.. plantar fasciitis.  Wow! Is that a painful little thing!  Overuse on my part- when will I learn?   Reading the thread it seems like this aging thing is a series of  alilments and appts with our docs-  Scans, lab work, Mammos, etc.. Don't ya just want to be left alone?  I am trying to take care of this at home, but if I want PT along the way, I too will be jumping through hoops to get it set up.  I partly believe we are our own best advocates in this medical world now. I have  to set up a physical with my doc in Oct and all I really want him to do is sit and talk with me. Always in a rush, and typing on a computer as we talk.. Is he listening to me?? Not sure. He's been my doc for about 30 years.  I want to add an intergrative doc/ alternative doc  to my care..  Not dissing  conventional  medicine but in combination with. I have been thinking about  it for awhile.. I'll pursue it this fall.

@DrKelli - glad you are feeling a little better.

Am enjoying reading what everyone is up to.. as we transition into fall.  Its like summer here- 90's for the next 10 days .... not exactly the cooling trend I am looking for.

  Have a good day!
