Good for you, @Ainhisg.  I always take a combo of D3 & K2 so the K2 can help the absorption od the D3.

@Shelbelle I don't think it was me discussing it with you, but if it was, perhaps I should add Prevagen to my supplement list!!!  lol  Or maybe you chimed in on the thread where I deleted my post, and I'm just not remembering it.  Anyway, sorry about that!

I just ordered it today, so I haven't tried it yet.  I am anxious to get it and hope I don't have any issues with it. It will be here next Thursday.  I ordered it from iherb, because I had a couple of other things I wanted to purchase there and didn't have enough to get free shipping without it.

Re: Vitamin K2 Update

[ Edited ]

Calcium citrate is 21% elemental calcium whereas calcium carbonate is 40% elemental calcium. Elemental calcium is what the body actually absorbs and processes. So if you are taking 1,000 mg of calcium citrate, your body will absorb 210 mg of calcium from that dose and the rest goes out in waste.

When it comes to calcium supps, it's not all about the kind of calcium supp you take but rather in large part about how and when you take it.

@Ainhisg

 I too take K2 +D3 together.

I believe it's best to take them together because of their synergistic effects. Congratulations on your great results!

Also, I know what you mean by the "ask your doctor" responses. It just kinda puts an end to a discussion where we could all learn something.

Unfortunately, with our broken health care system that's focused on repairing problems and not avoiding them in the first place a lot of doctors aren't as informed or aren't the end all be alls we used to think they were.

@Icegoddess

I take Citracal time release and the uncoated pills are quite large.  Usually I can swallow one; however, when it's not working, I can snap the scoring and then take each half separately.  95% of the time I can break the pill in half.

Hope it works for you !

This was a couple of months ago, I think it may have been PLinda who had asked me which K to buy and I posted the pic of Doc Best on here.  Maybe it is me who needs the Prevagen !!!

Unless you have a doc who is trained in both Traditional medicine and Homeopathic medicine, most of the time they will know little to nothing concerning supplements. I know a lot more than my doc knows about supplements. And she would be the first one to admit that. When it comes to supplements we all need to do our own research and be our own advocates.

Thank you so very much for sharing this. I'm in a similar boat with my last scan showing I do have osteopenia. And I can't say I've been as proactive as I should be for a number of reasons. One thing is I have to be careful with supplements as many of them can make me have issues with digestion...okay, I'll say it, constipation. Ha! And calcium supplementation is a real killer in that department. 😲

Anyway, thanks again for sharing your physician's thoughts and your subsequent plan of action. I wish you good health!!!

@PansyBoo   Try Andrew Lessman's Digest Assure, I use it with every meal and lots of supplements, no problems.

Important to Note that Viactiv Chews DO NOT contain K2, they contain K1, which is not the same thing.
