Vicks is also a great treatment for those awful bright purple bruises that occur as we get older.

Rub some Vicks on them and they disappear much more quickly, my Derm recommended it and it really works!

@KingstonsMom   I have never heard of this, but I will surely give it a try.  My shins look like I have been through a war!  One bump and instant bruise.  It takes forever for them to go away if ever.

Someone here said Vicks smells like lavender.  I think it has a strong menthol smell.  Oh well, if my legs look like an old person now I can smell like one, too.  LOL

VapoRub contains oils, petroleum jelly and thymol. It's the thymol which helps get rid of hard flaking by inhibiting the growth of new cells leading to softer more clear skin.

Maybe this could help to soften heels?

I recently purchased a spray cleaner at Aldis that contains thymol.  I am not fond of the smell, but it does a pretty good job on my glass top stove and doesn't streak.

Vicks comes in a lavender scented version, too. @tends2dogs

I've just started getting those bruises on my forearms and hands, whenever I hit something with any force

.  Like out of the blue, one day there they were!!

I remember when my parents started getting them, but they were on  blood thinners and blamed that.  I'm on no meds, but still get them now.

I'll have to give Vicks a try.  Thank you.

My Derm said that the camphor and menthol in Vicks (or a no name equivalent) helps the blood from those bruises, right underneath the top layer of skin, (that's why they're so dark) get re-absorbed into the deeper tissue and helps 'fade' the bruise.

It sure works for me and everyone I've told about it.

And the scent is menthol and eucalyptus.
