They got back into the car and drove to a different building that had a wheelchair entrance and waited for a volunteer who would take Mom to the vaccination area through an underground connection. My friend then drove back to the parking area.
After getting vaccinated, they had to do it over in reverse.
Good thing there were volunteers.
I've had both my shots for Covid, never got out of the car. They will come out to your car and give you your shot, if your unable to walk in. My last one 4 days ago and it was snowing. Some one goes in and asks and they follow them out, happened both times. I am able to walk, just not far, and have difficulty standing for long periods of time. The 15 minute wait after the shot, altogether both times was just an hour there,

Not good planning. Even if the city or state does not have handicap laws you would think since elderly were the first group they would have thought it out more. In Pa. it is mandatory to the point places had to have it fixed by certain dates or be fined daily. I am shocked some area of the country are not the same. I am glad she was able to get her shot and they had an alternative entrance for her.

I'm glad you mentioned this, @PickyPicky3 --- If and when we ever get on a vaccination list, I will take my 100-yr-old father. The only vaccination stations here require everyone to stand in a line for hours at a time. Some lines outdoors, some indoors. No chairs for sitting. My dad depends on a walker to get around and can only 'stand' for about 30 seconds at a time. I don't know why the planners never considered this. I voiced my opinion to our health dept and they said if he can't stand, then he won't be able to get the vaccine. I will need to take my own chair or rent a wheelchair for him.
These vaccination stations should expect and plan for older people with disabilities.

I bought an Invacare Rollator because it has a built-in seat. It's just the ticket for situations like this. Rollators are as cheap as $50 on Amazon right now.
Too bad there's not a Rollator Port-A-Potty with Cabana Enclosure. Then I could go anywhere.

I had the vaccine a couple of weeks ago. I experienced side effects, but many people don’t. My arm was very sore and I couldn’t lift it much or lay on that side. That's something to consider when deciding which arm to use for the vaccine. I also experienced fatigue almost immediately and had to lie down. The following day I developed a fever and chills. I pretty much stayed in bed for two days and then I was ok. I’ve had friends get the vaccine with no problems. It’s different for everyone.
That is pretty much the reaction, I believe, that you should expect which means it is working. Almost everyone has the same story. I think that is okay. You are right about choosing the appropriate arm. Doctors/healthcare workers involved with the vaccination advise NOT to take any NSAIDs or aspirin prior to taking the shot as that may interfere with its ability to take action necessary (its properties), sotospeak.

Which vaccine did you get, Cotton? I received the Moderna on Jan.27 and had a sore arm for two days, but I could still use it normally and sleep on that side. Maybe a little bit tired the next day. But that was it. I expect more side effects after the second shot.

@shoesnbags I received the Moderna vaccine also. I haven't met anyone that has had the kind of reaction I did, even though those are possible side effects. I can't imagine what the second vaccine will be like. I'm supposed to receive that on Feb 12.

@cotton4me
Well, maybe you had most of your reaction to the first shot, and the second will be better. Meanwhile the rest of us will really feel it with the second. (Trying to think positive here.)
