Re: Update of traffic ticket

I got a ticket at 9:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve for an expired inspection sticker! Yes, I was guilty, but I do know they have the judgment call to give a warning. Not this testosterone driven guy. I went immediately to the inspection place, and everyone in there was as aggravated about it as I was. It was the principle of the thing. Everyone, including my next door city councilman, just shook their head.

I went to City Hall the next week, paid $20, and got it adjudicated.

Actually it's pretty likely he won't show up, unless you look like a dangerous character needing to be disciplined.
That is what I thought. All my friends told me to go and that he probably would not be there. My heart sunk when I saw him so don't count on this OP. I think you are doing the right thing. Just pay it and move on. Don't beat yourself up. I rarely think of my incident. It's so insignificant! Smiley Happy

I was so sorry I'd gone to court because the creepy cop did show up and stood staring and smirking like a Cheshire cat knowing the referee or Commissioner (not a real judge) would side with him.

Then, I was really mad at myself knowing he was being paid imo to be in court rather than out on patrol so he got to get an easy day!

as I posted before --- if u belong to AAA --- call them about it. They should be able to handle it. I'm a fighter --- I don't allow anyone to take advantage of me.

I'm glad I posted, I see that many have been taken advantage of and it helps to vent, at least it helped me! Sorry you had to go through this!

When you say "trial" are you talking an actual trial with a jury? For a ticket?!

I have a friend that speeds all the time, gets tickets, goes to court (she never said she goes to trial) and get them reduced. WHY they are reducing them for her I'll never know, especially if they see she does it often. But I've never heard of a trial with a jury for tickets. I just assumed it was more like Night Court where you just stand in front of the judge, and there's a room full of people behind you waiting for their turn.

Either way, I do not have the time nor patience to deal with driving into the city to fight it. I'd pay it.

No, its like Night court..No way would I go to a trial..I would have a nervous breakdown!

Re: Update of traffic ticket

Sorry to hear this. I don't blame you for just making it go away in the least offensive way possible. Were I you, I would consider writing a brief, cogent letter outlining your experience with this policeman and sending it both to a local elected official and to the office of your police chief. You might not get to be 'heard' by the judge and chances are it'll come to nothing, but you've still had your say and it's always possible that someone, somewhere along the line will put some stock into what you have to say. Besides, if he treated you this way then he's going to treat others this way, and if enough complaints are registered you'd like to hope his performance would at least have to be reviewed at some point. At the very least, you'd like to think a supervisor might tell him to cool his jets a bit and treat those he's supposed to be serving and who are paying his salary with a little respect.

I never heard of AAA handing traffic ticket issues for members.
