I was interested so I read about it. This was a few years ago, don't know about black pepper part. Once I saw "can thin the blood", just paraphrasing, I quit reading.

Now having had 16 Colonoscopies, 15 with Gastro Doctors trying to find the bleeding source? Anything that mentions "blood thinner" is X-NO facto for me. My only potential blood thinner, is my prescribed 81mg children's aspirin each day.

I hear ya!..Right now I'd try just about anything..The Dr. told me to try it for a few weeks...Another one told me to eat a pound of sauerkraut a day.I believe in some home remedies and I use a few from Grandma. Don't think I could deal with all that fermented cabbage.

Most of my inflammation is do to my kidney removal and my colostomy and ileostomy and reversals.

DH could never take either..His Eliquis is enough of a blood thinner.

@hckynutjohn    I feel I must ask: How do you know your bleeding has nothing to do with diet? I bled for two years after my hospitalization, saw five  gastroenterologists, had multiple colonoscopies and not once did anyone mention diet.

It wasn't until I called the CDC and literally begged for their help (the CDC does not accept calls from individuals with problems) that I was put on the track to healing. I have lived with permanent damage to my intestine from the e-coli all my life, and it has worsened with old age. But I never bled again after getting a correct diagnosis.

Yes, I am picky picky, but I can put that trait to good use.

👀Re: Turmeric

[ Edited ]

@PickyPicky3

My food diet I changed in 1975. Decided I no longer wanted to eat meat/fish or fowl. During those years I was determined to take total control over every aspect of my body, both for physical health and top physical fitness.

During those years I went to many Clinics, some were all day, with experts in about everything from Podiatrists/Orthopedists/Respiratory-PulmonaryGastroenterologistss/Spinal Specialist. All were Certified in Sports Medicine Specialities. There were also different Nutritionists involved over those 25+ years prior to my bleeding.

The cause of my bleeding? With consultations with my group of doctors in Cardiology/Pulmonology and Nutritionist, this is what they, along with myself, believed to be the cause.

After 2 different episodes of life threatening Pulmonary Embolisms, 3 months apart, and my 2 heart attacks, 2003 and 2007, and Aspiration Pneumonia with heart attack #1!  Having had 3 different cases of Pneumonia prior to those YEARS. My lungs were badly scarred from all of those events.

During the years from 2002-2008 I was on the blood thinner, Coumadin/Warfarinn in different dosages. Over those 6 years there was not a week that went by where I didn't have to get a full blood draw 3 times a week to check my INR/ProTime levels. Many weeks I went all 7 days getting the full arm blood draws, no "stick the finger".

Gotta go. To be Continued Later.

To conclude this long novella, it boiled down to this. After over 132 blood transfusions and over 30 Iron Infusions, during the years of my Anemia!. I, along with my prescribing Pulmonologist and Cardiologist, decided that I was no longer going to take the CoumadinnWarfarinn Blood Thinner.

Yes, I risk dying from Pulmonary Embolism, but over those years, I was not living my life. Just living life itself is a risk. In my mind I was existing, not living. Being unable to do much of anything that required my body to work. Even at minimum exertion levels,  I was exhausted. Thus began my 18 month trek to reach a fitness level I had been used to much of my life.

And there are also risks having so many blood transfusions. And during 1 Iron Infusion, had I left the hospital a few minutes sooner, I would have died.

Fortunately I was still in the hospital when I suffered from Anaphylacticc Shock. The nurses were able to get the fluids and meds necessary into me, via IV drip, in time to keep me breathing.

So no, my food program had nothing to do with my Colon Bleeds. At one stretch in the hospital in my long 2008 stay. My body consumption for 17 long days consisted of, Apple Juice and Orange Jello. Throw in a Gallon of Go/Nulytely prior to each Colonoscopy and Lower Double Balloon Enteroscopyy, and that was the extent of my food(?).

But!! The bleeding continued throughout all the days in between those those procedures. And blood draws were done every 6 hours to check my Hemoglobin levels. I could easily tell by how I felt when it dropped down to blood transfusion levels.

All my doctors, which included a Sports Medicine Registered Nutritionist, concluded that the Blood ThinnerCoumadinnWarfarinn, were indeed the cause of my bleeding.

As to why it was hard to detect? The Right Colon is the furthest point from entry, the anus, to where the bleeds were found. I was also told that my colon was 2' longer than most, thus some scopes used did not reach the point of my bleeding. Remember, this 14 years ago, and much of these procedures have advanced. My most recent Colonoscopy/Endoscopy was uneventful.

Finally THE END if you got this far!   =^..^=

@hckynutjohn   I'm sorry you've had such really bad luck. It would be nice if they could find a way of not having those bleeds get started.

Dr. told me to try turmeric complex with black pepper for inflammation..

Anyone have good  results from it?

Any adverse side effects?

DIL has a lot of allergies..Her face broke out in a rash and her throat was closing.Of course she stopped it.

I took the first one today..I was wondering if there is anything I should look out for?

Like your DIL, I broke out in a horribly red rash of hives. It was so uncomfortable. The turmeric with the red pepper is supposed to be the best delivery system. However, it can be very tough on the system. I have a friend who can take it no problem. I myself was red within 30 minutes after taking it. For some people it really works for auto immune, and inflammation. For others, it really construct trouble to those who are sensitive to supplements. Do they work? I don't know. Sometimes they do, other times they don't help at all. I would take a half of a capsule if I were you, then slowly work up to a capsule and then from there.
