Re: Trouble filling prescriptions?

Seems like most of our problems come from China especially meds and our governmaent has a tendency to make everything worse.

Is anyone feeling that your Pharmacist is having trouble filling your prescriptions?

About 3 weeks ago I had a kidney stone. It took 4 days to pass. The Doctor prescribed a pain killer. My local pharmacist said he wasn't able to fill the prescription. He had ordered the drug for more than 2 weeks and he was unable to get the drug. He said the Doctor had to prescribe another drug.

I also get several drugs filled on a regular basis. One drug was due to be refilled. The Drug Store website has said the prescription has been "in process" for a few days. I thought maybe the pharmacist forgot to move the prescription to "filled". Went to the drug store today. They said they had not filled the prescription.

There is no trouble with the prescription. It has another 2 refills. I am going back to the pharmacy tomorrow and ask when they think they will be able to fill the prescription.

I never ran across not being able to get prescriptions before. Anyone else having trouble? Or is it just me?

     > In process means cannot receive either from Pharma company, or PHARMA is not receiving ingredients from that country.  China has the monopoly.

My DD is a pharm tech at Walgreens.   Their store only keeps generics on hand.    All other scripts are filled & packaged at their distribution center with a 24 hour turnaround.   She said it's just as much trouble to process even though the prescription comes individually filled.  I don't use Walgreens.

She is only scheduled to work 4 days a week, not by her

choice but she is often called in, sometimes asked to work late.   On her off day she can usually pick up a shift at another store.

I have several monthly scripts, all generics.  I get them filled at a local pharmacy (within walking distance).   The store keeps a limited supply but I've learned to not wait until the last minute for a refill.  I've never had to wait more than 24 hours

Insulin has been in short supply before the law changed.

⭕️ @software @I agree 100%⭕️ Controlled.

Supply of meds are "controlled", part of the reason for shortages

In a pinch a hospital pharmacy can supply what a local pharmacy cannot.  You don't have to be a patient.   My local pharmacy is run by twins, one works full time at the local hospital, the other works the pharmacy.    It's good to have a back up plan.

Re: Trouble filling prescriptions?

DJPH just got back from the pharmacy and was told his bp meds are on back order and should be here in six more days....he do best have enough to last that long so will call the dr Monday and hopefully they have some samples he can get. Even the pharmacist, who is a personal friend, said he didn't even have any to give him a few as a courtesy.

Re: Trouble filling prescriptions?

I also take 2 controlled ones and they have to get from a warehouse, cannot keep them in the pharmacy until the day before the refill is due. I finally switched to my neuro's own pharmacy in her building which is also the warehouse. They only fill scripts for drs in that building (10 floors ) and they mail them to me. Perfect.
