@BirkiLady wrote:Glad the removal of both teeth went so well. Since you were asleep, I'm confident the oral surgeon did not let you drive home youself! Do you have a friend or family member helping you today with food and if you need to pick up anything? (I have no idea what I'm talking about, except imagine you need someone to help for 24 hours?) Sleep well today!
What is the next step for you? Are you going to have two implants? One at a time? How soon does that begin and how long does that procedure take? Would expect that to be a long procedure since mouth wounds are slow healing. Best wishes as you progress through the various steps.
Please write about your experiences. Have so many questions, but feel so stupid asking them! IDK if many have gone through such a major oral surgery and reconstruction (is that what it's called when implants are completed for healthy teeth & gums?)
The next step remains to be seen.
About 15 years ago I had a back molar removed (bottom) and had no implant. I made this decision after consulting w/ the oral surgeon in my previous location.
My DD was my "responsible adult" [she is 40 and we laughed about this but she really IS a responsible adult! I feel lucky to be her mom]
She drove me, stayed there during the procedure and drove me home with offers to bring me food or meds if I needed them.
I was surprised the anesthesia was so quick to wear off and what a nice sleep! I app apparently was given toradol, which meant I could not take ibuprofen until 3:30 PM ... about 5 1/2 hours after the surgery. I just took Advil dual action (after calling for approval) since I did not have Ibuprofen on hand.
I was told by my dentist that an implant would require bone reconstruction...but the oral surgeon told me beforehand that I could decide later. Thank heavens because this sounds so major and for upper back molars at my age? 🤷♀️
PLEASE feel free to ask any questions ... will answer if I can!

Another group I asked told me to call ahead and ask if the endodontist provides nitrous oxide because they had teeth extracted with them using this.

I had the bone graft surgery for the implant 2 years ago, done same time as the extraction, took over 2 hours just on novacaine, no pain at all, not even after. It really is not as bad as it sounds, just mega bucks !!!

I would never go through the implant process if the teeth that need replaced on me weren't towards the front. It absolutely costs too much money. If it were back molars, I'd never consider it. I sure wish I didn't have to get any. Even though I'm scheduled to begin the process in August, I'm still wavering back and forth every single day because of the cost.❤️

@LTT1 Good to hear that your procedure went off without a hitch!
Glad you are home and on the road to recovery...DO NOT SPIT!
Warm water rinse with the salt as directed is truly the way to go.

If the tooth does not show, dont get the implant but if it shows it is a must, at least to me it was. Also a lot easier to eat properly with the implant than without.

Follow your directions to a "T".

@cheriere there is a place called ResetSmile that might be worth looking into, I saw it advertised, and went online and checked it out.
