I understand and agree with almost everything you said in your reply post to me. I have nothing against any pain medication, or anyone that needs to take them. My nephew owns several Pain Clinics and we have talked about pain and how it effects people differently several times.
Any pain med that has even a remote chance of thinning my blood? I in no way will risk it. My 19 "up the rear" procedures are plenty, and anything that can possibly cause me to need more of those procedures? No thanks.
My post was not meant to compare pain levels of 1-10. It was to share my experience with my left big toe removal. I too had the cream Lidocaine rubbed on my toe prior to the injection. While Lidocaine is good for skin or dental use, it does little when it comes to injecting a big toe/a bone, or for a Cystoscopy.
My toe after surgery was similar to what you describe. His nurse gave me what I needed and also showed me how to clean my toe, and wrap it, every other day. This was mainly so I could do it right, and still be able to fit my foot inti my left ice skate.
It was swollen for several weeks also, and wasn't a pretty sight to look at for quite awhile. My wife would leave the room when I cleaned and wrapped it.
I wore the open sandal for a few weeks also, because of the swelling. And unlike ice skating, where your toes do not flex, they do when walking, thus no shoes. I mentioned in my other post that "I limped in, and limped out", of the ice rink. As I explained above, ice skating is different than walking. But by all means, skating was not pain free. The pain part was getting my wrapped swollen toe into my left skate.
I mentioned Tylenol/Ibuprofen only because of my Colon bleeding problems for years. And taking anything else with a risk of more bleeding? Only if I reach a pain level I cannot tolerate and still function in my type of life.
I am only replying to this to clarify the post of mine you quoted here.
