My SO has extremely thin and fragile skin. He takes blood thinners which don't help. A few weeks ago he took a terrible fall in the backyard and his left arm looked like it had been mauled by a wild animal. I had to call 911 and he spent the night in the hospital. The doctor put him on B1 and folic acid in addition to medications. I'm not sure what they're supposed to do but, hopefully, he will mend well. He's been going to the nurses clinic every other day for wound care. I'm useless in that department.

Maybe try using a retinol lotion. Retinol is a collagen and firming product that can help thicken the skin. It takes several weeks of daily and consistent use to experience those results.

@We rescue cats   Years ago, I started taking baby aspirin and as a result, I was getting the bruising on my arms.

I stopped the baby aspirin and the bruising stopped.

My husband is 86 and gets bruises on his arms. He is on a

blood thinner and takes baby aspirin.

I have ITP and low platelets. I believe in natural oils and have found helichyrsum to be very helpful. It can be purchased online or in a store that sells natural products

May I ask how long you have had ITP? My granddaughter who is 15 months was just diagnosed with it. Her rash has lightened up quite a bit but she still bruises easily. They are monitoring her blood platelet levels. Doctor said it could resolve itself in 6-12 months.

I have skin issues (Lichen planus) and many of my symptoms seemed to originate from thinned skin. (Or at least thinner drier skin due to old age didn't help).

I notice lately that my skin is "bouncier" and doesn't seem as thin or problematic.

I take many supplements but B vitamins (Andrew Lessman Essential 1) has made a huge difference.

I have had itp for the past 12 years. I do not worry about it unless I have a lot of bruising

I also have ITP for the past five years.......started out with blotches on my lower legs, rushed to emergency room with platelet levels of 20 (normally 300-400 range).  After medication, I have not had any other issues with it.  I do check in with my doctor but now don't see him unless I start bruising badly.  Thank goodness that has not occurred.  I do bruise somewhat on my arms at times and was told by Doctor it is due to thin skin as we age.
