@We rescue cats My husband who is 72 also has this problem. Sometimes it starts to clear up a bit only to get bad again. It has gotten to the point where he will bleed...it's awful!
I think he's had this problem as maybe a side effect from the many medications he has taken over the last ten years from his autoimmune illness. I haven't thought about getting him arm protectors and will have to look into them.
I wish there was something he could take to make his arms look normal again.

Vitamin C supplements are good for vascular health. It helps strengthen the blood vessel walls (vascular integrity) to help prevent them from getting broken/torn resulting in bruising. 500 mg daily.
With age there is depleted levels of collagen throughout the body and that includes the collagen found inside blood vessel wall lining. When blood vessels lose collagen they get weak and are susceptible to breaking and tearing open. Vitamin C helps with the formation of collagen all over the body including the skin and blood vessels. Skin gets thin from loss of collagen and subcutaneous fat.

DH is 71 and his hands and arms are like that. He is on blood thinners. The least little bump he will bleed and bruise. I agree no need to see a dermatologist.

Im sorry your husband has this issue, but really glad you asked the question. My mom and I both have thin skin as well. Since she also takes blood thinners, the slightest bump or heavy bag will cause these same marks on her. I'm really interested in reading what others post to help.❤️

@We rescue cats Is he on blood thinners? That may have a bearing on it. With that being said my grandma, mom and dad all had this issue as they aged. There was nothing that you can do about it. The skin gets thinner the older we get....

I get them occasionally. I have a small one on my left hand. I always know what caused it. I have a very small vineyard and each day I prune the vines and occasionally get stabbed by one of the arbors. That night the bruise appears, takes forever for it to disappear.

Thank you! I ordered Vitamin C and Arnicare. hope domrthing helps him, he is embarrassed by it especially if he breaks the skin and bleeds. All good info, appreciate it!

My husband gets those bruises too. Cutting bushes, playing with the dogs. He doesn't take any medications.
