Well, I had one shingles shot about 5- 6 years ago.  I didn't even know there were two shots; not sure how that happened.

Anyway, I asked my doc about it she said that was the "old shot" and the new one is definitely better and I should get both of them.

Since I don't recall any symptoms at all, I'm "guessing" the subsequent shots wouldn't be either .... any theories on this?

@May5   Last August I got the 2-part Shingrix vaccination. My arm was a wee painful but warm compresses helped but with the last one I felt a little achy.

Has anyone had this lately and did you have any reaction to it. Thank you.

I had my first one in May and didn't have any reaction.

I should have had it years ago but the copay was more than I could afford. Now it's covered by Medicare.  I will go back late August for the 2nd dose.

I guess I must be special. I had the first Shingrx shot last year and was sick as a dog for five days. Fever, headache, chills, body aches and I was so tired. I even called my PCP to make sure I wasn't having some sort of bizarre reaction. Apparently I was just having a very strong reaction. I was honestly afraid to get the second one. I did have the second one and the see effects were much milder and only lasted two days.

@NEvans2

I had heard about severe reactions from several other people and that's why I was afraid to get it for so long, since I normally am very sensitive to inoculations.

But then my friend got Shingles and after seeing and hearing of her extreme discomfort and pain, I decided that even if I did react it would be better than chancing a similar experience at this point in my life.  I realize you still can get shingles, but it's likely to be milder than without the shot.

Much to my relief, I only had a minor reaction much like every other shot I get.

I was vaccinated with shingrix last October and December. A little arm soreness and a slight headache for the first day. After that I was fine.

Huge believer in the shingles vaccination.  I was very ill after the 1st shot, did fine with the second shot.  Getting the shingles scares me more.  I had a dear friend get it across her eye and forehead in her 40's!  3 years later and she still has issues.  It's a decision we each need to make; I chose to do it after I saw her struggles and pain.

My only reaction was in the pocketbook.  Insurance did not cover for me and they were expensive.

I got my first Shingrix in Feb and due for second one.  It  was horrible.  BP shot up for a whole day, fever, chills, aches, headache for three days, very sore arm for months.

I am very reluctant to get that second shot.  I know it's a gamble, but really don't know what to do.  Time is running out.

I'm scheduled to get mine on 8/15.  CVS sense me a reminder every other day but I'm going to have it done at my doctor's office.  Quicker and easier.
