I need to get an appt with my ENT for a serious situation. I won't bore anyone with the details...but I really, really need to see him asap...have been trying for a week to speak to his nurse...I leave messages and request for a call back...crickets. Called again first thing this morning...was told when and if the dr gets my records , (which I was already told they have in their office) and if he wants to see me, they will call me on Thursday or Friday. It will be late August for his first open time since he is in surgery most of the time. Going to the ER is not an option and he is the one who performed my rare surgery and who my other drs who were involved in the surgery said to see. They can't even get into to ask for my appt.
Any suggestions? Another ENT won't be able to address the problem.

@Trailrun23 I'm so sorry, but I don't know what to tell you except to go to the ER if is something that is urgent. You cannot mess around with your eyes.

Sorry you are having issues that need attention and no one to help. I know my pulmonologist says to come back in 6 months, but they can't make his appointments that far out and they always say they will call when his schedule is available, but they never do, which means I have to keep bugging them to find out when I can get my appointment.

The doctor or doctors who recommend you see him will need to make his office aware that this is an urgent matter. Some of these surgeons are like the great Oz. I had major surgery on a Sunday recently because it was urgent. My cardiologist was the doctor I had to rely on to get to see the surgeon. I could never have arranged any of it without a doctor's intervention.
Good luck @Trailrun23 . I am very sorry you are going through such a stressful time.

@Trailrun23, I feel so bad for you. It is pretty bad when you can not receive any help for a serious condition. I have waited anywhere from 3 weeks to 8 months to get in for medical appointments. I fear things will not improve.
I sure wish I had a good suggestion, but I don't.

@Trailrun23 I went through the same thing at the beginning of the year and as a result, have lost the hearing in my right ear probably permanently. It's ridiculous. I went through the same thing trying to find a new primary. I got super lucky and got an appointment (as a new patient) the same day I called because there was a cancellation. Otherwise the wait was 6 weeks.

@DrKelli . so sorry to hear this. Ear, nose, and throat issues can be very serious.

And I love how they always say. "Just call us if you have any problems or questions."

I'd call those other doctors again and make sure they know why your situation is urgent. Then I'd ask them to try to get through to your surgeon's office again.

I was told many years ago from a representative in a doctor's office that they have a certain amount of appointments set aside every day for emergencies. I guess that habit has changed.
