Unless one is grossly overweight, why do so many people here equate loss with being healthier? I see nothing about blood workups/measured physical fitness testing results or genetics mentioned.
I see a lot of "I/we feel healthier now", but very little than how one feels. Many avoid doctors and life saving procedures because they "feel good". Unfortunately, feeling good is not the best indicator of life threatening health issues.
Many also equate good health(or feeling good) with being physically fit, and physically fit with being healthy. They are 2 completely different things, when it comes to the human body and brain.
I have yet to see age numbers by @Susan Louise and DH/length of feeling so good/any mention of physical fitness, much less how it was attained, and maintained.
As I said in my several other posts there is no 1 magic anything, that will effect everyone the same. No such thing as "A Magic Pill", as you have called it. And the title of this thread: "The Magic Pill"?
Another poster comes to mind when reading the way @Susan Louise posts. Her was was the only way to get healthy/stay healthy(nothing about the importance of physical fitness)/it even cured diseases. Will that be next on these threads?
I have had my own beliefs on health and physical fitness going back to the late 1960. Unless someone asks me "specific questions", I offered nothing about what I ate or how I trained for physical fitness. I still seldom stray from it.

That poster is the same one that I have been thinking about as well. She has not posted in a long time. I hope that she is well.
@mom2four0418 What are you talking about? She stared this thread and one yesterday.
@JeanLouiseFinch What are you talking about?
I misread. Sorry

You don't what else to say to me? I will help you.
Say your age and DH, since you seem to include him/your blood readings in numbers(not Dr. says ok, or "normal")your and DH fitness, as measured, not as thought/body composition( in %) /your history connected to, or knowledge gained in health and physical fitness, exercise physiology, mental stability/Nutrition/Supplements/Major Diseases suffered and recovery.
While my sister loves her horses and has owned many all of her adult life? I do not fall into the "horse" category.
I am not "led to anything", be it health or general things in life. My growing up and gaining life experience, was by growing up and learning about life, independently. Not via reading books/watching videos(no such thing in my youth)/or by snake oil sales people, the government or posts in any social media I visit.

Gotta go, just 1 comment because that is all I read in your post, for now. I said "unless one is grossly overweight". I am well aware of that and "Morbidly Obese".

@hckynut I really don't understand the desire to try and convince everybody that there is only one way to Nirvana, whatever that might be, to the point of becoming obnoxious. Put it out there ONCE for everyone and let them decide what to do with it. They apparently think that if they continually beat us over the head with it we will eventually change our ways.
I did a moderate low carb for awhile. Keto is just too extreme for me. My doctor is a proponent of Keto, but even he hasn't been able to stay on it from the looks of it. Regardless, I get a physical every year and he is very happy with my stats. Tells me to keep doing what I'm doing since that apparently keeps me from needing him very often. So, that's what I'm doing, what works for me. Considering my family history, feel pretty lucky.

@JeanLouiseFinch Then maybe OP should put a "Keto" warning in her topic titles like someone suggested I do when I posted a picture of a snake in the gardening forum. Had I known it was about Keto I wouldn't have clicked on the topic in the first place.

@Icegoddess I think that's reasonable. I will also try to do that as well.

Tried Keto, made me sick as a dog. Upset stomach, you name it. Can't handle it. The "ready made" keto foods in stores use the sugars that end in "ol" as in sorbitol, malitol, erythritol etc. and I can't touch those with a 10ft pole. The rest of the diet did not agree with me either. My husband and I cut down our sugars, and our carbs but had no "diet" we went by and each have lost 28lbs. We are still a work in progress, but that worked better than the strict "keto" diet. My friend who is a keto fanatic swore we would never lose weight unless we did it "her" way and went total keto, since you can't just cut back on sugars and carbs and still eat and lose weight according to her. She hasn't spoken to me since we have lost weight our way lol. I'm sure this works for some people but not every diet, "way of life" or some such thing is for everybody. Not everyone can eat that way and have good results or even healthy ones believe it or not. I took just a common sense approach and it worked for us, but no way can I handle that whole "keto" way of life UGH. Felt tired, hair was dull, stomach hurt, husband the same, while this friend bounced around asking "don't you feel great??" "It's wonderful isn't it?" lol. I finally told her no it's not, and did things my way and feel alot more like me. And that's what it's about. My system didn't achieve keto zen following it. To those that can embrace, follow it consistantly and feel "wonderful" on it..have at it. Diet="Did I Eat That?" ![]()

I love to read about and watch things concerning health. I am intelligent (2 college degrees) and do a lot of research before I try, do, or buy something. I am a very curious person so have watched some of the videos the OP recommends. The OP is posting about something in which she obviously believes. That being said, my beliefs fall more alongside @hckynut . Plenty of research is out there from reputable sites concerning the Keto lifestyle. Here is one from Harvard, which is good enough for me. But everyone should do what he/she feels is right for him/her. I try to stay in my own lane and not convince others that a well-rounded diet and physical exercise is the way to true health.

John,
Again you have posted another down-to-earth post ! Thank you for taking the time to do that...some minds cannot be changed immediately. Hopefully, nothing major will impact them before science / chemistry wreaks any damage.
This weekend my cousin and her husband came down to the shore house for the week. Before we left, they were chatting about the Covid-19 " 15 " most of their friends had put on. They are about 10-15 years younger.
Neither DH nor I put on any weight; we didn't change our eating or exercise habits. We are 76 and 79 and have bloodwork checked regularly. His cardiologist and PCP doctors are pleased with his results. My PCP says my #'s are among the best of all her patients, esp. the dexa scan #'s.
We "feel" fine and have the numbers that will keep us feeling fine a n d healthy !
