Re: Synvisc One Knee Injection

By the time I took the shots my osteoarthritis was too far advanced, and the only thing that really helped me was total knee replacement. However, my surgeon advised me to take them, in order to have a record of trying every alternative available. Immediately after each injection, the Synvisc did relax the throbbing spasms in my knee for about 24 hours, and that was the only relief I got from the shots. However, I do believe the shots may have made a difference if I had taken them much earlier. Best wishes to you!

Re: Synvisc One Knee Injection

Red top, if the injection doesn't work for my right knee, I think will be because I waited too long, too. Every time I went to my GP doc with complaints, he gave me medication which I told him only helped minimally. True enough, the pain would eventually go away completely but would come back. I should have demanded a specialist right away. The way these insurances work, unless you make demands, you get minimal services. I wasn't pro active for myself soon enough. ------------------- Acat, how much does Prolotheraphy cost? Never heard of it.

Re: Synvisc One Knee Injection

Question please. I have a shot left knee. I have bone on bone, and no meniscus at all. This was result after MRI this past January. However, at the same time I was having leg, hip and back pain. The ortho Dr. said he suspected much of the pain was from back, and sent me to spine doc. He was right. I have 2 slipped discs, a spine that is degenerated with severe stenosis, and somehow in the last 5 years I got scoliosis at 25%. ANYWAY, my question is this..I have not been back to ortho for knee issues although my knee is in pain and hard to use because I have been dealing with back issues first.

Can a person get these shots if they have no meniscus and bone on bone with severe arthritis? I will try anything. I have to deal with spine, and it is one or the other. I am looking for some relief while I work on back. I need surgery, but am trying to do minimal surgery.

My mother had the shots despite having the bone on bone situation. The shots did not help, I am sorry to say.

I wish you the best of all outcomes.

Re: Synvisc One Knee Injection

Thanks everyone for the answers to my question. I think in a few weeks when I see ortho Doc I will discuss this. They said I need to get my back in order first to deal with knee replacement. Maybe this is the answer. I will also ask about those ""sugar"" injections"" that sounds interesting. I will research all this as well
