SuperSmile Whitening Toothpaste

I have been using this toothpaste for about a month and have noticed that my teeth have become very sensitive to hot and cold foods. I can't help but think it is probably due to this toothpaste. I'm going to quit using it and try the Crest toothpaste for sensitivity. To top it off, the SuperSmile didn't whiten my teeth a bit!

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?

Is that the one with 2 tubes - paste and whitener?   I've purchased about 3 times over the years and found it to be useless.  Can't believe they still sell it.  The pens by the lady dentist - her whitener works much better and I also have it in a large push-button bottle container.  I always use Sensoydne (sp) between brushing - so perhaps I'm not as sensitive to SS.

I tried it years ago and thought it was useless and very watery too. I use Colgate Optic White.

My whole family has used SS for years and we have become sensitive to it, even my son who is young and has never had a cavity. I think if you were not blessed with thick enamel on your teeth no matter what you use over time will cause sensitivity. Also, people who have a thicker coating of enamel will have whiter teeth.

I've done lots of comparisons on these type products over the years, and there are no better results with the "speciality" items like this, and what you can buy at the storefronts.  I even had better results with a whitening pen sold at the Dollar Tree.  My fav are still the Crest whitestrips. I have sensitive teeth and these don't bother me.  I also like Colgate whitening toothpaste.  Talk to your dentist about the condition of the enamel on your teeth.  That determines what results you can expect on any of these products.  This explains why we all seem to have different experiences.

Re: SuperSmile Whitening Toothpaste

My dentist explained to me - as we age the enamel on our teeth gets thinner and at some point you can see the material under it showing thru. That material under the enamel  is yellow.Once this happens the only way to whiten the teeth is veneers.

He also said that bleaching is determental to tooth enamel. Per his suggestion I use a toothpaste with fluoride in it to help preserve my tooth enamel. At almost 70 years old I keep my teeth as clean as possible and worry more about keeping my teeth strong & healthy than keeping them white.

Have you tried using it every other day?  This is what my dental assistant told me to do with whitening products.  It may take a little longer to get results but, in my case, it worked.

I have been using SS toothpaste with the whitening accelerator for many years and have actually gotten pretty good results.  You might try using the accelerator every other day to see if this helps with the sensitivity.  Remember, you should only use a pea-sized amount of both the SS toothpaste, as well as the accelerator.  HTH

@moon_gazer

Years ago, I tried the product  There were two tubes then, I think.  I had no real luck with them, but included in the kit was a tiny tube of a product called Quickee.  It was really a small tube; however, it worked!  I would just rub a bit on and it whitened nicely.
