Re: Successes in declining statins??

@1Professor

With berberine you can take it with statins and that will boost the lipid-lowering effects of the statins, reduce dosage and side effects of statins also.

@SilleeMee

My Berberine arrived yesterday. Thanks for the introduction!

In time for one before supper. Today, I can take the recommended two.

I am still hoping for new numbers different from the 6 months-ago blood tests, before starting statins.

Then I will know if any of my efforts (subtracted a LOT of unhealthy processed sodium-laden foods, all plant diet, exercise [with cardio] 25 minutes am and again pm, and several supps). Obviously if none of that made a significant difference, I can start the statin prescription . . .

Re: Successes in using/declining statins?

It's your body, your choice.  I declined after a trial because they caused more pain with the "arthritis" I had.  After all these years it turns out I have fibromyalgia, with worsening pain as I get older.  So I just live with high cholesterol.

I was given a Rx for statins when my blood test showed I had a high LDL cholesterol. Took if for a few years then that caused my A1c to go up and my doc told me I might need another Rx for that. That was the breaking point for me and I went on to find a way out of taking more Rxs.

I have been taking berberine for several years, blood tests are normal and I no longer need any Rx drugs at all. My doctor is impressed that at my age, 68, I have a good blood profile w/o the need for intervention or anywhere close to that.

My husbands doctor prescribed the lowest dose of generic Lipitor available and he took it for a month.  Three months later we are still trying to get his blood glucose back to where it had been before he started taking it.

Benefits don't always outweigh the risks.
