Ouch!! About 6 weeks ago I walked into the door jam in my bare feet and stubbed my baby toe....the entire top of my foot turned black and blue was the toe was very tender.   I assumed it would heal and the pain would go away....it is still quite tender.

I know it's a little injury but I am having trouble wearing some of my shoes...I can'e wear flip flops and open shoe this winter....

I really hate to go to the doctor it's seems like a silly injury but 6 weeks seems like a long time to heal...any advice?

I am icing it again today........

Use surgical tape to tape to next toe, cotton ball in between.  Soak in warm water twice a day.  I am not a doctor, but have had two badly injured, probably broken toes, & this was the treatment.

I have this myself as has my Mother .. I can almost guarantee the toe

is probably broken ...They don't do anything for a broken toe ...

Mine I just taped it to the next toe to protect it from me catching it

on something again ..Ouch .....The black and blue should start

to subside ....and the pain should lesson ....if it goes beyond the

8-10 week point you may have to have it looked at ....

One caviat though .. as my daughter says I am not a health care

professional .....!!

I''d go to urgent care and get a x ray- there could be a small fracture in your foot. 6  weeks is  a long time to have discomfort still!

Soaking in warm water increases the circulation to promote absorption of the blood that has pooled to cause the bruising.  It may reduce muscle spasms if that is a problem which can occur around fractures, if it is fractured.

You really should see a doctor to determine what kind of damage there is. Soaking in warm might provide relief but it could also make things worse. That's another reason to see a doctor.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

You need an xray just to make sure that you didn't break or dislocate your toe.  Even if you didn't, they will tape your toes and give you something for the pain.

As long as your sense is that it is getting better, I'm not sure there is much they could do for you at urgent care.
