This is the kind of talk that causes panic buying and shortages. Please folks, just buy what you need and leave ample supplies on the shelves for others to do the same, The "stock up" mentality is what is causing empty space on store shelves.

I am already stocked up and always have been. You never when an emergency will strike. I am always prepared.

If there is electricity for light bulbs why do you need batteries? And I can brush my teeth without batteries.

Just a quick reminder to everyone to remember to stock up on items such as batteries, light bulbs, flashlights, those types of things that we should have on hand just in case there comes a time when we will not be able to access these necessary but often not thought of items. I stocked up on batteries and battery powered toothbrushes today. Next up for me, light bulbs because if I have no light to read by, I will definitely loose my mind,LOL!!!

I have always kept a well stocked pantry and storage closet after having experienced several natural disasters over the years, but I heard a prepper on YouTube tell viewers to "Stay ready so you don't have to get ready", or something to that effect. I love how he put that.😁

No, the stock up mentality isn't what causes empty space on store shelves. The panic hoarding once a crisis is in effect is what causes it.
Those of us that responsibly stock things during a time there is no high demand for them actually help alleviate shortages during a time of crisis. I have a one to two year supply of most things my family uses, like tp, tissues, paper towels, batteries, toiletries etc. And procuring them prior to an event like we have now is the responsible and sensible thing to do.
Right now, not many people are considering batteries and a number of other things that people should always stay stocked on but often don't. This is exactly the time to get what you will need, and some extra to share or for heavy use during storm seasons, which many will be facing in the next couple of months.
Anything people can do to think ahead about what they need, long before events necessitate needing it, stocking up then, is not only good for the person with the sense to think ahead, but for those that don't and wait till the last minute. It is one less (or many less) people out competing for things at the moment of crisis.
Our "just in time" supply chain does not function in crisis well. Forward thinking people think ahead of the curve and to what is going to come, or might come next, and pre plan and pre purchase before the need is high.

I'm a little fuzzy how light bulbs factor in the prep plan.
Are the light bulbs battery driven??

Because you might not want to run down to the store to get one so it would be good to have a few extra. Which some of us have and some of us wouldn't think of.
Batteries because it is storm season and you need to check batteries, flashlights and have battery driven radios that send out storm alerts in the night. Don't die from a night time tornado! Be weather aware in the coming months!
