@emmygrace , I am sorry your son is unable to deal with your memory loss.

How are you doing with your diabetes? I remember you were struggling with highs. Often times when our blood glucose levels are high, our memory is affected. I also have had a stroke and any readings above 140, have a significant effect on my memory. Just a thought and hopefully your son will be less insensitive in the future. These are trying times and a lot of people seem to lash out more readily.

Be well @emmygrace . Merry Christmas!

@emmygrace That would be hurtful. Maybe you need to have a more serious discussion with your son (perhaps a family meeting), when you feel the time is optimal. I know you've done this before, but revisit it, in a more formal way.  Let him, and family know how upsetting it continues to be, when others don't try to understand, your condition.

Remind him/them that it's nothing you can willfully control, AND, that it's frustrating for you, too.  Stand up for yourself.  But, all that said, have a wonderful Christmas. And if you want to add a lump of coal in your son's stocking, we wouldn't hold it against you Woman Wink.

My son lives in Texas now...the rest of the family in KC. He visited me twice last summer..but doubtful that will happen again. He lived in Asia for many years...he wants to go back there to live~Since we just talk on the phone...I can always just hang up!! Woman Happy

To me it sounds like your son is the one with the problem. In my view if someone gets po'd because someone forgets?  They obviously don't have a grasp on what real problems exist.

I meet different people about every time I go ice skating. I introduce myself and they usually respond with their name. By the time I skate around the rink a few times, their names?  Beats me.

Ask me something over 70 years ago and not many things I do not remember. And I am sure many here can relate to the "why did I come into this room" question we ask ourselves.

Absolutely you are right. The problems rest with him, period!

I remember waking up after the delivery and having blurred vision..I couldn't walk, talk and spent time in a wheelchair!!!! My older son saw this..he was 4 then..I didn't think I would recover..but I did! He went to a daycare for older children...my mother also helped w/his care. Thankfully the twins were ok and they loved daycare! I need to remember the good things...thanks again for all of your replies! Heart

Opposite problem my dear friend has: limited long term memory fog from meningitis.

Since she can't remember a lot of things from when we worked together almost 50 years ago, she thinks my old stories are great and the first time she has heard them !

She enjoys hearing them and I enjoy telling them !  Good match, lol !

@emmygrace

I'm 67 and I have a great memory, as far as I can remember my route and box # to the address on the island that I grew up on, before they had street names.

But ask me what I did the day before yesterday? That's a bit cloudy.......

@emmygrace  sorry that you're going through this with your son.

My son has short term memory loss from an accident and the Dr always told us that if he ask a question 10, 20 times, answer it as if it's the first time you're hearing it.

Sometimes when I can't remember something he would joke and say "Mom, I'm the one with short term memory loss" and we will laugh and he would give me the answer.
