Ok people. You have to be diligent and get your preventative vaccinations! No one has to go through the pain of shingles. Get the shot. I had shingles some 35 years ago, before vaccines, and it wasn't bad for me but now that I'm a senior I take no chances.

I had shingles several years ago on my "under carriage"  It was the first case there my doctor had ever seen. It was very painful and the nerve pain continued for about 6 months after the rash left. The pain was gradually just occasionly  thankfully. I was told I would have to wait a year to get the shingles vaccine. I got my 2 shots as soon as I could as I was told shingles often can return to the same area!

What is an "under carriage" ??  Is that just where your boob hangs over, creating a fold?

So sorry.  I had a little over a year ago.  My lower back is where it started and believe me I could not believe the pain I had in my back.  In fact I had the pain for about a week before the shingles appeared.    Nerves will stay sensitive for months.  My doctor said I had to wait a year before I could get the shingles shot.

@Islandqueen1  There is a 2-6 month waiting period between the first and second shingles shots. Be sure to consult with your PCP!

You shouldn't have the second shot "within a few weeks" for maximum coverage and for insurance to pay.

ETA: Corrected the waiting period time to read: 2-6 months per @Still Raining. If you wait longer than six months, you need to begin the first shot again.

What is an "under carriage"? I don't have a clue what that means.

I am not sure, but, I think it might pertain to a rather private area of your body..Nothing is unusual about the area under your breast

@SilleeMee  It's your crotch area.

@gellergrl

That sounds awful.  A friend of mine had shingles on the back of her neck.  She said the pain was excruciating.

@Bri369

Thanks for mentioning it.  I have never heard it called that before.
