I couldn't agree more with sidsmom regarding diet. In particular, I had no idea how HORRIBLE sugar is in regard to our health, other than contributing to weight gain. I was getting steroid shots regularly, between my fingers for RA, just so I could move my hands and lift my arms. My neck and shoulder pain was nearly unbearable from inflammation, I became exhausted doing the smallest task, and I lost interest in everything I loved doing, mainly because it hurt to move. All the while eating insane amounts of sugar and processed foods and deciding I guess this is just what middle age feels like.) But in January I decided enough was enough. I gave up ALL sugar and processed food completely, though I do have the occasional piece of fruit. I eat a low carb diet, drink lots of water, have dropped 40 lbs., and I haven't needed one steroid shot since then.
