How is this possible a hospital serves sludge like this?
This post has close to 300 responses. Several shared the
exact same meal choices....AFTER cardiovascular surgery.
Luckily those folks are on the right nutritional PB diet path
to avoid heart issues in the future.
Someone called this ‘The Repeat Business Breakfast”.
🤢😢😳
because that is standard hosp. food
don't get me started on this

I noticed the phone right next to the breakfast tray.
At least they make it easy to call for help after you eat it.

😆 I saw that 1980’s landline phone & thought...
‘well, maybe it’s a little tiny town where they don’t know better’
(like the little farm town where I grew up), giving them every
benefit of the doubt, but it’s a Denver suburb....
yeah, they should know better.

My experience with hospital food is that it's disgusting drek. All of it, including the cafeteria where staff and visitors can eat. I was hospitalized for about a week and was constantly chided by the care staff for not eating. I told them when they actually served something edible, I'd eat. No restrictions to my diet, I could order whatever I wanted. I tried Greek yogurt one morning...it was the nasty "lite" stuff with artificial sweetner in it. I ordered a dish of berries, and they were the frozen, sweetened kind. "Fresh peach slices" were canned and swimming in sugar syrup. I finally made do with some whole wheat toast and peanut butter.
Out of curiosity with the specific opening post, I looked at the patient menu for my local hospital. Both pancakes and turkey sausage were listed as "cardiac friendly" choices. Yuck.

Patients aren't in the hospital for long. Even with serious illnesses...they may be in for three days max. Many of them aren't interested in eating much while there. I don't think it makes a huge difference what they eat for these few days
They need dietary advice for what to eat, once they get discharged

My husband was in the hospital in July and his meal trays were not good.
The only reason he ate anything off them was because he was hungry If I had to guess 90% of what they brought him was dumped in the garbage.

Makes me ill just looking at that tray!

When I was in the hospital I could order my menus over the phone. I asked for a dill pickle w/my grilled cheese. I was not permitted the pickle because of high sodium.

Jck the Bear:If your sugar is limited or not permitted what would you suggest?
