I take care of a lovely lady with several health concerns. Last sunday she got ill and went to the ER. She stayed until thursday, went to a rehab, from 1-4 weeks! My boss told me the new rule is, 3 hospital nights in the hospital, you will go to rehab! Anyone know about this?? There are many rehabs in this area, and they're gorgeous, more like a spa. I hope to go see her..maybe thats why they're springing up everywhere!

It is not new. To qualify for rehab you have to be an inpatient admission for 72 hours per medicare guidelines. But besides the 72 hours, you have to also medically qualify.

Don't know if person is elderly. She may have been in weaken state due to her health problems coupled with flu. It is safer to discharge her rehab than to home.
