I would say be careful and test an elliptical first. They do not all have the same motion and I found one style made my knees worse whereas a different one was fine.
You could also try a bike. I would definitely consult PT for suggestions.
@bikerbabe : Thanks......I am going to PT for recommendations and help.

Ever tried the "rooster shots"? It's actually a medication called Gelsyn injected in your knee or knees each week for 3 injections total. I've been doing this for several years, every 6 months and it really helps a LOT! Doesn't work for everybody but it's kept me from having to have surgery.

@JerseyGirl44 : Gel injections are on the books....trying to see how this other shot works and return in about 6 weeks after PT and exercise machine. They say I am a long way from surgery since there is still space between my bones. Thanks you.

What about a recumbent exercise bike? That's what I used before and after my knee replacements.

@Hoovermom. Just a suggestion....try the device you get before you buy it.
I'm almost 15 years past due for a knee replacement, so it's very painful at times.
I went to PT for something else. Just for kicks I tried a stationary bike. It was extremely painful, so much so that I couldn't do a full revolution.
I was glad I hadn't bought one of the devices with a circular motion.

@Kachina624 : Thank you but no stationary bike but getting recommendations from PT at my appointment. My knee is not ready for surgery so I do have a great range of motion just experience pain at some parts of the day.
