Does anyone take psyllium? If so how do you take it and what does it do for you?

I thought it was mostly used to keep you regular.

Psyllium did not work for me, felt bloated and constipated .

I take it and it keeps me regular. It's a great source of fiber and supports good gut health. Before I started taking psyllium, I was very irregular and I would go through bouts of diarrhea, constipation, bloating and gas. Not any more.

You have to drink a lot water when you take psyllium. That's partially how it works.

Metamucil is a brand of a psyllium blend.

My gastro doc recommeneded Benefiber to me rather then Psyllium, been taking it for 14 years.

@Shelbelle    I put Benefiber in my coffee every morning. It does the trick.

Yes, I take it.  It adds fiber and helps to keep you "going" regularly.  My colonoscopy doctor recommended 30 grams of fiber daily.  I don't always get that much through foods so I take the psyllium husk powder as needed, not daily.

FYI - mix it in water, drink it fast, and follow with an other glass of water, to make sure it goes down all the way.  Don't let it sit after you mix it or it will turn into a gel.
