I knew there was a lot of talk in the medical community about lowering the age. Didn't know for sure, thus my "may be lower" comment. Thank you for the update.
Using the word "proactive" is music to my ears when I hear people say it, and actuality follow it. Hopefully these late added posts to this older thread will get more people to be "proactive" when it comes to their body. We only get this 1.

My last one was December 2020-my third. I did have to have a covid swab-negative. Did the 3 day prep with the pills. Just did liquid food for 4 days (instant breakfast etc) Made it much easier. Did the Gatorade zero and lots of water. Wasn't bad at all never felt nauseous. Plenty of bathroom trips. No problem with the anesthesia (never do). Benefit- lost 5 lbs lol. Felt great afterwards.
This test is over hyped and given so much "bad" PR that I think some of the reactions people have is from just plain nerves. You have a lot of "bathroom" shy people who (I have a friend like this) literally freak about having to "go" urgently. She had worked herself into a frenzy and then once the whole thing was over was like "well, that really wasn't as bad as I thought". Some people who have never taken a "bathroom booster" do find their stomach has some issues with it, but this stuff has been around and used often by millions doing this test, so it's safe. The test is around for a reason. And colon cancer is a good reason to get this test. You don't want that. There are very few "fun" medical tests. My doctor/staff were there through each step and answered any questions I had. I had zero issues, easy time with the actual procedure. Never worried about the virus. Just had 2 back to back minor surgeries-no problems, no virus issues, all good.

@hckynut AGREE 100%. You are spot-on on all points. Hubby is much better today, and I will be contactig the gastro's office when they open. I know in the past hubby has had a prostate exam, and I'm pretty certain he's due again. I'll be scheduling him a complete head-to-toe physical today, as well. These are things that ya just gotta do! I really appreciate you listening to me and giving me great advice. It is very much appreciated. I'll be back around later. Meantime, enjoy your day! ![]()

Glad I could help a little. Just 1 little thing. I do not give anyone Medical Advice. I tell of my personal experiences and from my years of learning a lot from Sports Exercise Physiology Clinics, and lots of reading over the decades.
I leave the advice giving to each person's Doctors. Thank you for your replies. Hope your husband and your sons will stay, or be, proactive when it comes to their bodies.

Following this. Because of problems with the facility last time I had this procedure, I've been dragging my feet about making my appt. Due to everyone's input here, I went ahead and made appt.
Yes, I'm still nervous since it is the same facility. And I have a condition called tortuous colon which complicates the procedure.
But you all are so pro-health that (fingers crossed) I buckled.
Thanks all, Seannie

I am glad to read you have scheduled your colonoscopy based on some of our shares!
Colonoscopies are life saving tests, and that's what we must keep in mind.
My very best wishes to you for an easy prep, and good results!

I'm not at the point to even consider this test .... but I have to say, wow, there HAS to be a better way ..... no wonder so many people avoid those tests!

I scheduled my first Colonoscopy two days ago. Due to the fear I am almost nine years late in getting it. But I plan to take the plunge.
