With the popularity and advertising of Dental Implants, there is not much discussion of Porcelain Verneers.

I do understand that implants replace missing or failing teeth and that Veneers are primarily cosmetic.

Now that my teeth are aging,I wish I had taken the time to do Veneers 15 years ago.

granddi, porcelain veneers don't last forever - 10 years, maybe 15. They aren't cheap.  Of course veneers are susceptible to damage like natural teeth.

Veneers aren't a replacement for your natural teeth it they are healthy. Your natural teeth are shaved down to accomodate the veneer. So once you make this decision, you have to live with veneers.

I got four veneers about 5 years ago.  The teeth had been filled and refilled so many times - veneers was the best way to go.

Snce the veneers, I had a lot of bonding done - front teeth on top.  They look fantastic!  I'm going to have the bottom ones done this summer.

Well worth all the money I spent.  In addition to required medical care ... I spare no expense for eyeglasses, hearing aids and dental care

 ETA:   Age shouldn't make any difference.  I was over 70 with the first veneers .... and I'll be 77 by the time the next bonding is done.

Depends on what you want and your current dental health. My preferance would be implants. Implants are a life-long solution. You don't have to worry about loosing your veneers on your front teeth with some foods, apples, corn on the cob,raw carrots etc.

I have had a lot of bonding done, for a fair price, my teeth look really nice now. I had lots of shifting.

@granddi

In 2005, my boss took out a $40,000 loan so his wife could have all of her teeth replaced by implants.  That was in 2005 -  14 years ago.  Her real teeth were in deplorable condition.  Her husband was a Colonel in the Army and they had FREE dental in the military.  Never had seen anyone with such bad teeth with free dental.  Blew my mind.  He was ticked, big time, as she had apparently begged him to death to get this done.  Can you imagine?

Now, onto my friend in real estate.  As long as I've know her, she's worked as a real estate broker and loved it.  A real people person.  But, as her dentist told her, she has rather thin enamel on her teeth (inherited condition) and her love of coffee had caused some staining.  She had tried many commerical products to no avail, so finally checked out porcelain veneers.  She decided to invest the money in her teeth, because she knew it would increase her self esteem on the job.  She loved the outcome and I loved the way she looked when I first saw her after the procedure.  She just shined!

She's still looking good 12+ years later.  If it were me and I had the funds to invest in my "Smile," I wouldn't hesitate.  BTW, she only had her front top and bottom teeth done.

I had a complete re-design of my entire upper & lower teeth 6 yrs. ago. My dentist was able to correct my over-bite, the shape of each tooth, and 100% porcelain veneers, with non-metal post. It changed my life.....

When my (much) younger sister was a baby, she was given an antibiotic(?) that caused her permanent teeth to come in discolored. It always bothered her so eventually she had veneers put on her teeth.  The were costly but looked beautiful. (I was envious)

After almost 10 years, she was on vacation out of the country when one of the front ones came off.  It was not a pretty sight.  She did have it replaced when she returned home.  Since then, (I think) almost all have been replaced.
