Re: Plant based and vegan information

So many good books!  Follow all on FB, YouTube.

Impressed Potato Strong is represented.  He's just a Vlogger that's gotten popular over the years...I talk to him, Will Kriski, all the time on FB.

Very comprehensive list.

Plus, most all these authors have free content on YouTube.

Love Julieanna Hever!  Cutie.

Thank you for the link.  I have quite a few of these books but some were new to me.

Have you guys heard about the gentleman in Austrailia, Andrew Taylor, who is attempting to do a Full Year of nothing but potatoes? "SpudFit".  He & Dr. McDougall are being interviewed for the show, "The Doctors".

Also, a popular YouTube gal, High Carb Hannah, is at the end of a 30-day challenge of potatoes & greens.   LOTS of followers...creative ideas.

Love the Tater & Greens!!

Re: Plant based and vegan information

So she's eating fat free French fries (say that 5 times fast!) sidsmom? Doesn't that mean ......... Oven baked potato sticks?

Then fat free hash browns?

When is a "fry" not a "fry"? Dry fry? Faux fry? Fly by fry?

OR............does she also consume HEALTHY FATS?

Giggle....I stopped at 3...got dizzy!

In our forums, she laughed how the Daily Mail would pick the one photo that was non-compliant to their normal day-to-day lifestyle! That pic of a beet burger & fries was at a Vegan Meetup...definitely not food they eat on a day-to-day basis. She left the fries, but ate the beet burger...and the stuff looking like cheese was a sauce baked on.

On a day-to-day basis, yes...it's oven baked fries, hashed browns, potato waffles. They are super easy....and she makes a mean 'cheeze' sauce made out of potatoes. I've seen people dry-fry potatoes...seems like too much work, though!

Healthy fats? Nope, she sticks to a low-fat diet (around 10% of total calories) without adding any overt fats. She did a good video about overt fats...and the TED Talk she references is informative, as well.

With all the McDougall-inspired people out there, you might see an avocado, nuts, seeds once they reach their goal weight (and if they consume a large amt of calories) but never processed oil...just too calorie dense...but losing or maintaining, it's usually around 10-15% fat.

If you 'binge-watch' her videos, she definitely has stress periods where her eating, though still plant-based, has more processed vegan food (she just got married & moved), but I still commend her for 'putting it all out there', warts & all.

Her Potato Cleanse brought out so many creative ideas just by eating....potatoes! Just reinforces the simplicity of this diet. MANY folks on the main McDougall board eat this way every day...potatoes one day, rice the next, etc. Simple, cheap...can't beat it!

I'm really curious about Andrew's (SpudFit) journey.  I hope he goes the distance & kicks his food addiction once & for all.

Thanks for circling back, @violann! 😀

@butterfly123

Do you have any plant based YouTube channels you follow or want to share?

Also...don't know when HCH & Andrew's episode will appear, but I follow both on YouTube..I'll let you know when something is announced.

BTW:  I just discovered John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods has a book coming out end of the year called "The Whole Foods Diet'.  Always good to see The McDougall Diet & FOK promoted...especially with a powerhouse like Whole Foods.
