what great two first games those were to watch, especially when your team isnt in the playoffs.....one game a 1 point difference, one game a 2 point difference. congrats to the teams moving forward..... the COLTS and the SAINTS!!!!

hoping my second team, the CHARGERS can pull off a win against a tough team to beat this year.....the BENGALS.

What a couple of nail-biters yesterday! An amazing comeback by The Colts! I'm happy for Drew Brees, too - can't help but like that guy. I wasn't a big Harbaugh fan when he was with The Bears. Weather will definitely be a factor, but I hope The 49ers can pull out a win today. Between The Bengals and The Chargers, I don't have super strong feelings either way, just want to watch a good game.

Well, it was a good run for the Eagles with a new head coach and new system. When I think of what we could have done differently...I don't know. I think the Saints' defense was the key. They really held LaS M. back. But Jackson and that neat catch! Nice to enjoy the lead for a little bit. Foles is so impressive, and I'll be happy if he's back next season.

I'm so close to training camp, maybe this year I'll go! I hope Kelley rethinks time of possession.

Wow, you Colts' fans!!! Nice going!

The Eagles appear to be nicely positioned for the next few years. We've got the hard to get pieces already in place in a good head coach/staff, a good young quarterback (two if you include Barkley), a stable of runningbacks, and a solid offensive line. We've also got good receivers and tight ends. Offensively you could probably go into next season without changing anything and be pretty darn competitive. I wouldn't be shocked to see Todd Herremans in a backup role next year if the Eagles can find a good young right guard to fill his spot. His play was pretty inconsistent this year and last. When he's good, he's very good, but he's not good enough anymore. He'd be a valuable backup though since he can play both tackle and guard and both sides. IF there's an athletic young bulldozer of a guard available in the draft/free agency, don't be shocked if the Eagles grab him.

This will be year two of the defensive makeover and I suspect we'll see some more changes take place on that side of the ball. Billy Davis (the Eagles defensive coordinator) said it would take three years or so to get all of the pieces in place for his defense, so we should see some more improvement there. We could use a better pass rush, some better safety play, and more depth on defense, but with free agency and the draft coming up we're likely to fill in a few of those areas of need.

All in all it was a great first year for the Eagles and Chip Kelly. Looking at next year's schedule, it's not hard to see the Eagles repeat as NFC East champs. (Of course, you never know in the NFL.) Nick Foles should be better, the players should have a better grasp of the system, they've already bought in, there should be fewer distractions, the team should be more focused. I see great things in the future. We're in good shape salary cap-wise, we have all of our top picks in the draft, a few of the guys we lost in camp (five I believe in total) to torn ACL's will be ready by April to participate in the first OTA's. The future looks bright in Philly. It's just a shame the run had to end this year.

This game put the "Wild" in Wildcard weekend! No words could describe the outcome. And what about Luck? And Mathis and Hilton and Brown, etc...

Yes, Gardenman, the Colts are a scary team. They just don't go away no matter what the score is. Have to wait until tomorrow to see who they will play next week.

Now what will the Saints and Eagles do as an encore?

CONGRATULATIONS TEGANSLAW!!!!!!!!! HOW BOUT THEM COLTS---THE COMEBACK KIDS!!!!!

Hi GARDENMAN,

Well that was a close one....I keep thinking about that perfect play and perfect pass that Cooper did not catch....the difference maker JMHO---that was a darn shame.

Yes I think the Eagles will be dominating our division.....the Redskins will be in rebuild mode with new head coach and staff.....Jerrah will have to stay status quo with his cap problems, shakey O line, and defense with players that dont fit the system, their defensive star Ware is getting old, and then there's aging Tony Romo(beautiful work by their GM don't ya think...Wink).....now the Giants need a new OC and a new O line, a RB etc.....so yep the Eagles are in terrific shape!

And compared to what we have on the oline we will take your guy Herreman's .....

Great football played in day one........hope today's games are just as exciting.....

As for the Saints defense--And Jerry Jones got rid of Rob Ryan and made him the scapegoat.....I wonder if Jerry is kicking himself.........my Redskins are a mess but at least we have more pieces in place, and cap room ......yep they make me feel better about my team.....

Tough fought game for the Eagles---BTW didnt even know you guys had a fight song...

That wasn't the maker or breaker of the game, IMO. That was an unfortunate miss, and unlike Riley. I still say keeping McCoy at bay was the maker and breaker of the game. We would have had more 1st downs, more possession of the ball, which results in less Saints' offense, and undoubtedly, more points. (They mostly shut Jackson down, too.)

You know, Spurt, as much as it didn't show for Washington this year, I think they really had a good team. (While the Giants completely fell apart.) I wonder who your next head coach will be. I hope he comes in from college and is a real "center" for the guys.
