Shingles? I was told by a doctor once shingles is only on one side of the body. I am not hurting-just itchy.

If you can take it, the Benadryl will help the itching and the rash. It blocks the histamine response.

This description really doesn't sound like shingles at all. Shingles has a rash and is almost always on one side. Pianomama, I hope you contacted your physician or at least your pharmacist if the problem persisted.

Update: Went to Doctor and it is a fungal rash. Easy to treat with over the counter cream.

I am so happy for you that it can be easily treated. But I am confused. Was it related to your original infection? Are fungus and yeast infections the same thing? I just don't know if those things can spread and would appreciate someone sharing their knowledge. Thank you.

Yeast infection is caused by candida albicans a fungus. Yes, it can spread systemically...try avoiding sugar, until the rash is gone. And use the OTC fungal cream until it is is fully gone.

Yeast is only one type or sub-set of fungus. As an analogy: Say fungus is Europe with all of its countries. Yeast is only one fungus, like Germany is only one country. Does this make sense?
