An interesting article I came across today while browsing the news:
https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/health-and-medicine/article227547369.html
Josie Maran will live long and be very healthy, LOL

Wow that was interesting. Never heard of that before. Guess I better butter up. LOL!!!
I can see this happening when you get older & you have problems bending down to apply lotion on your lower body.
My skin is not that dry. I think taking 2 of Andrew Lessman Omega 3 fish oil every day helps. I hardly ever used to apply lotion. Now I try to use my Salux cloth & moisturize at least once per week. Guess I need to apply it more often.

this makes me happy to know that all these years that i have spent "greasing up" have not been wasted!

The last sentence in the article...ok.

Two different ways to view this.
Outside, in or Inside, out.
Treatment of the largest organ is important but slathering a ton
of chemicals on your skin could create more harm than good
and does nothing for the improvement of blood flow to the brain.
The treatment begins inside...via the mouth (ie nutrition).
Nutrition makes such a huge difference...even with dementia/etc.
People will do anything to avoid eating correctly.

The article mentioned older people with sun damaged dry, itchy skin. Well, I am older, but my sun is not damaged or dry or itchy.
I am still fighting the oily skin of my youth. I don't need moisture. My husband has the same issue.
i think it is due to our diets...can't think of any other reason.

And what not to put in your mouth, like cigarettes

Very interesting. I am rather lazy about moisturizing my legs.

Sounds like someone or more than one person has got interests in a skin care line in that article. There's more to cytokine biology than a simple explanation of dry skin as a possible cause for dementia. I sense a marketing ploy may be more like it.
