Have you had a tetanus shot? Today the news reported a 10 year-old boy who has survived tetanus, also called lockjaw, after spending 57 days in the hospital and then several more days in rehab....he had never received a tetanus shot. Parents did not think he needed vaccines. Tetanus is a life-threatening infection that has no cure. Now his parents are asking for a go fund me page to pay for his medical bills.

I had one tetanus immunization in my life. It was around 18 years ago after an injury.
If I ever have another injury, I will get another one. They are good for 10 years.

Last time I had one was coming or going or both when we lived in Hawaii. That was in the 60's.
DH had one probably 25 yrs ago when our dog bit him while he was trying to clean his ears.

Yes, DH and I both had a DPT shot in 2017. New baby in the family and we needed our pertussis vaccine up to date.

I've had a couple over the last twenty five years...both were dog bite related. 🐶 Snippy little suckers. Ha!

I got a tetanus shot when I first went to my current PCP ... back in the early 90s.

So important. I get one every ten years or so. When I’ve had an injury and not been sure of the date of my last one, I have gotten another tetanus shot. It’s nothing to play with!

My last tetanus shot was about 8 years ago that I got in the islands. Apparently, their vaccines and ours are not the same, but I am not rushing in for the next one. I do think it is hoped that people will get them every 10 years.

I got A DPT booster last year. It had been 10 years since my last tetanus shot. From what I was told they recommend this shot ever 10 years. Oh and those anti-vaxxer parents of that yound boy refused to allow him to receive a second tetanus shot or other vaccinations when he left the hospital. And he lives on a farm and could very well contract tetanus again. I read the article that described what he went through in the hospital and it was horrific. For the life of me I can't understand how these parents can watch their child suffer like he did from a completely preventable disease.

Unvaccinated Boy Almost Dies From First Case of Tetanus in Oregon in Over 30 Years
The details are in the article, but the most shocking thing is that after watching their little boy suffer so much and nearly die, they still refuse to vaccinate him. Now they have started a Go-Fund-Me to help pay over $800,000 in medical bills. SMH.
