What if you lost it or it fell off? I would be afraid to have all that information in the hands of whoever found it!

I agree! My PCP asked me last year whether I wanted all my medical info to be accessed by any and all doctors, and I said no. She pointed out that it would be useful in an emergency. However, I have no allergies. I figured I'd take my chances. The lack of privacy these days is at times distasteful. If I ever feel it's worth it, I'll change that decision, but for now if something were to happen to me my records would not be of any help.

I am giving serious thought to buying one of these for my husband. He receives total care thru the VA system, but in an emergency, he would be taken to a local facility that has not treated him for nearly 20 years. I would only provide his current medications and most pertinent health information.

I really didn't think of that, I ordered one for my husband because he is a diabetic and has had by-pass surgery....maybe just put in his name and contact # and meds...but not all his info that they ask for....maybe just that he is a diabetic...and is on insulin....

His doctor could advise what to include. I'd think the bypass would be good to include.

It's the very reason I didn't order it. I'm a techie, I believe in electronic info but if someone fills that entire thing out it would be too much information out there. I do have a list of meds on a card in my wallet. DH actually used it when I fell down the stairs in 2010 and was unconscious. The paramedics said it was invaluable. But I also wear a little 10k bracelet that has my name on the back and simply "Diabetic". When I was in the hospital they didn't give me my regular meds anyway, they gave me insulin because my body's stress level was so high..... (I had 3 brain bleeds and a concussion)....
I think the item would work out if the person filling out the info was very selective in the info they give.....
