I can't post the video due to language used, but I can see what is described below happening more and more.  When you are the only one not wearing a mask you are going to stand out, and not in a good way.

Googling "woman chased out of grocery store" will bring up the short clip.

I have never been prouder of my peeps. Knowing the store I at first surprised but when thinking about it, it made sense. Staten Island is a borough of mainly working middle class people. I'm pretty sure everyone on the Island knows someone who has been ill with, died from, or cared for someone with Covid. It was pretty rough for awhile and have learned that the few things we have to do actually helps. People can argue all they want, but there is nothing like experience, and dealing 1st hand with this virus to give you perspective . Given the division, I wish you all luck. Stay safe.

Costco has a person at the door who turns you away if you don't have a mask on.

Kroger is now "requiring" masks for everyone over the age of two, but they are not enforcing it at all.  Legally, they can't require it, only encourage it. I went in Kroger yesterday with my mask on and my hand sanitizer with me....I saw several shoppers with no masks and no attempt to distance themselves from others...I was constantly dodging people so it took me twice as long to get out of there. I have been doing pickup there but needed to go into the store.....glad I can still go the pickup route.

Wearing a mask is a sign of Personal Responsibility.  Not wearing a mask shows a rejection of science & a willingness to inflict harm on others, without uttering a word.

I am thinking this is your opinion, not a scientific or psychological study. Wish I were able to understand others minds so well, especially when knowing nothing about them. You must have a gift to be able to state "willingness to inflict harm on others", and just by their apparel. Amazing!

In other words, keep your droplets and germs to yourselves, people who refuse to wear a mask!!! Don't infringe on MY "freedom" and MY "right" to exist in a safe environment!
To all my considerate and rule-following mask wearing fellow posters, thank you for being a responsible citizen and a decent human being who cares about and respects others and not just themselves!

@hooked on books

What environment specifically are you addressing here? Judging from your "thank you", a mask is now the defining factor in who is a "responsible citizen and a decent human being".

Wonder what it will be next. Heck I remember when I was judged by the clothes I wore and because I was raised in Public Housing Projects by a single mom of 4. Now it's only a mask. My how the times are "a changin"

@bargainsgirl

I have not mentioned "civil liberties" on this topic, here or any social media platform. What I don't get is this!

Now, if you are wearing a mask, along with all others, how are you going to contract the Wuhan virus from myself not wearing a mask? Does your mask, and others have to be an N95, or better mask to keep you safe from me? Just a curious followup!

@hckynut , the 2nd highest risk of transmission of Covid is when the infected person is not wearing a mask and the non infected is. It is second only to nobody wearing a mask. 3rd is when the infected person is wearing a mask and the non infected is not, least likely for infection is when both are wearing masks.

Several Denver chain grocery store locations have had major outbreaks, and several workers have died.  Union is negotiating to require customers wear masks.  It's very well and good to say "just stay home if you're scared.  It's those grocery store workers I feel bad for. They're scared to death to go to work, rightfully so.  We ALL can help protect them if we care to.

The last reputable study I heard and read said differently. I am paraphrasing: "The primary transmission of covid 19 is human to human contact. Others such as droplets suspected as causes are rare cases diagnosed with this virus. Transmission through physical contact with material items are also diagnosed to be very rare".

I will stick to that verified study as it makes much more sense to me. Now studies are on process showing wearing the same masks repeatedly, without being thoroughly cleaned regularly, puts the wearer at even a higher risk.

What studies one chooses to believe? I mentioned my choice above.

I just went to do a pickup on groceries and at my pharmacy. I stayed in my Jeep the entire time except when opening my trunk. I did not wear a mask. I have not left my house but to get meds for my dogs or myself or to do 2 pickup orders of groceries. I know I do not have the virus. So if I'm a horrible monstrous beast of a person for not wearing a mask so be it, People are so dang judgemental and have no clue of other people's circumstances. Sheesh people just love to have an enemy to hate. It's really pitiful and sad how quick people can find fault with others they don't know.

@hckynut Human to human contact is the contact individuals have while being in contact with each other and being in contact with their respirations. The reason why some of the lowest communication of the disease is among health care workers is because everyone is using precautions. That is just common sense as well. It is well documented that the transmission of this disease is aerosol or droplet borne. That is only accomplished by the air expelled from a persons mouth and nose, although I'm not really sure about flatulence.

Limited contact to airborne particles also lessen the transmission of the virus which is why exposure times are counted in 10 minute intervals. The longer one is in contact with an infected person, the higher the viral load one is exposed to. Again common sense.

PPE should only be used once but due to the lack of adequate supplies, healthcare providers use i N95 with 1 or 2 other masks in order to lengthen the lifespan of the N95. It can be disinfected until it becomes 'fuzzy'. At that point the efficacy is comprimised.

I always wear a cloth mask over my N95 in order to keep it clean, handle it only by the ear elastic and spray it with disinfectant ( alcohol ) and let completely dry.
