@pprmntstx   Can you drink something like almond milk?  It has been my preference over dairy ever since I first tried it several years ago

My mother is lactose intolerant -- not severely, as she can handle cheese and cottage cheese (lowfat/nonfat) just fine. It's milk that's the main problem. So, we tried Fairlife milk and it's been great! Allows her to eat cereal, have some berries, etc. with no ill effects.

@LonestarBabs  @Kachina624  I haven't tried either, but I will.  Thank you both so much!

Do not eat milk products or...

Look for lactose free products.  Lactaid milk is readily available in grocery stores.  Many grocery chains make their own brand.

Sometimes, aged cheese works, as does yogurt.  Some can eat cottage cheese, others not.  I have seen lactose free ice cream.

There are over the counter tablets that are taken before eating milk products.  They work on some people, others not so much.

Lactose is used as a filler in many medications.  Usually, the amount is so small, it doesn't cause a problem.  It's also used in prepared foods.

Other than the above, there is nothing available that I know of for lactose intolerance.

Try goat milk.

People who can't handle regular cow's milk, generally can digest goat's milk with no problems.
