@qvc chick I had RLS for about 15 years on and off. Mostly on. This was about 10 years ago. As other people have mentioned, magnesium can help or meds. I found sitting and messaging my feet helped a lot. I would bend my foot all the way forward then all the way back, then massage my foot, somewhat with a heavy hand. I did this for about 5 minutes. I don't know why but it really helped. Most of the time it would go away. Go figure. I hope you find something to help you. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year.

I have had RLS for years and have a doctor's prescription and it helps. I drink tonic water as it has quinine in it and that also helps. Yes, my legs also ache. Good luck.

Quinine (in the past) really did help those w/leg cramps. It may not be effective for RLS.
However quinine has been moved to rx status. You would have to drink (at least) a full liter per day to get enough to have any effect. This is according to my druggist.

I have RLS and take Mirapex for it. Do you by any chance take a statin for high cholesterol? I could not tolerate the statins and one of the symptoms was pain in my legs.

Yes, and with the achey-ness. To the point I could just scream. So maddening when trying to sleep. Just awful.
I take a script that takes care of it now.
I realized that antihistimines bring it on for me. So I avoid them completely.
Your doc should be able to help you.

I have been taking Requip for my restless legs for years. Also the ferritin level in my blood was very low which is the first thing my doctor checked when I told him I had restless legs. I take a Requip in the morning and at night because I also get restless legs during the day.

I always had RLS too. Plus I have varicose veins. Mine seemed to bother me most when I'd sit on the couch at night and watch TV - even elevating my legs. I'm now on my second bottle of Andrew Lessman's Circulations & Vein Support For Healthy Legs. It has really cured my leg pain and RLS. Miracle drug as far as I'm concerned.
