@QVCkitty1 I refuse antibiotics and high blood pressure meds. There are alternatives. I would be sad too, if I agreed to take those meds. You might want to do some research. I wish you the best.

Get another opinion. I just had the same thing (I'm 80) and all it was was my ears needed cleaning.I had tried cleaning my own ears and just pushed it all further inside my ear!

Thanks, they checked that first and removed some wax. I will get a myringotomy, which is a simple procedure whereby the fluid is drained. It takes minutes in the office.

@QVCkitty1. Look at it this way....aren't you fortunate that you live in a time and place where medication is available to alleviate and cure your condition? If you had lived 100 years ago, you'd probably have to have suffered in pain indefinitely and perhaps would have died before your time.

@Kachina624, Oh I know, I was just frustrated, and this is a safe place to blow off steam. I've bee fortunate in my life to need very little medicine, and even though my profession was healthcare, I like to avoid hospitals, LOL.

That is a very miserable and frustrating condition. I can understand why you feel upset.
Some people have put alcohol in their ears to help dry them out. The peroxide idea is fine, too.
But,if your fluid is behind the eardrum, I am not sure how that would work.
Some people use the hair dryer, held at a distance but aimed at the ear.
I hope you get relief soon...........

That is a miserable thing, and I feel so sorry for you!! For sure try Mucinex!! It thins the fluid and sometimes helps it drain. I hope this resolves quickly. Ear pain is the WORST!!
I will be praying for you!!! ![]()
PS...I cannot stand water in my ear...don't swim because of this...also take ear plugs to the hairdressers...I'm a freak about it. Got water in my ears, snorkeling 20 years ago and it wouldn't come out for an hour, so haven't let water get in since!!!

to the OP: Vent away! It sounds like you have some, unfortunately, valid reasons to vent.
I hope that everything will get back to normal for you asap. Sending positive energy your way.

Boy, I hope you never get any communicable diseases, since you refuse antibiotics. I really don't want anyone giving me their illness; I can find plenty all on my own :-)
And why do you feel that way? Just curious...because of attitudes like that -- refusing antibiotics -- a lot of diseases that were almost extinct are showing up again by the hundreds and thousands of cases,
And refusing blood pressure meds (if you need them) -- please don't go crying and looking for sympathy when your untreated high bp gives you a stroke or even something worse.
Yes--I DO feel strongly about this!
