They were way out of line. I would definitely transfer prescriptions to another pharmacy and send an email to Walgreens Corporate letting them know they lost you as a customer. They will respond - at least that was my experience.
I dropped Walgreens a number of years ago, mainly due to pharmacy issues, I let Corporate know. Shortly thereafter, there was wholesale turnover in pharmacy staff including the head pharmacist. I'm not saying my complaint was the cause, but it may have been a contributing factor.

Well, that's strange. If you're diabetic you should take a statin, but if you're not diabetic and take a statin, your'e more likely to become diabetic.

I would not have answered the questions. "Sorry, I'm business. I'll be happy to return your call." Then don't. This is a problem....government regulations are requiring pharmacies to become invasive in your private life that is the business of your doctor (maybe) only. They are required to fill out forms...we are losing our choices/freedom. Sorry you were subjected to this unacceptable requirement.

@Icegoddess Wait a minute! I'm diabetic and have never been on a statin. They are more dangerous than helpful IMO. Both my PCP and I have agreed I have NO REASON to even try one.
Since I regularly see other specialists for Epilepsy, Lupus & RA wouldn't you think one of the others would have recommended a statin if it was so important? (I've read so much that it wouldn't have made any different unless my lab work indicated something new. It hasn't in all these years. It's a dangerous medication which I'd be leery to take "just because I'm diabetic."
BTW: I keep my A1C in the 5.5 - 5.8 range and just had a physical last week. The Lupus is far, far more serious than diabetes for my current and long-term health.

@BirkiLady I wasn't suggesting you need to take a statin or that a statin caused your diabetes. I was commenting on the lose/lose situation where one disease organization recommends taking a drug that has been shown to cause that disease.

My pharmacist definetely knows more about the drugs that my doctor prescribes , but i would not answer any questions on the phone from random people on the phone , unless it is about a specific drug that they are out of and need to replace to fill my prescription.

I get calls from all kinds of strangers wanting to sell me solar, auto insurance, refinance mortgages, new Medicare programs, etc. As soon as I say I am not interested, they start asking me personal questions like "how old is my house", "what model is my car", and on and on. I just tell them it is none of their business and remind them that I just said I was not interested. Some of them just hang up while I am nicely asking them to remove me from the call list. The rudeness of these telemarketers is amazing.

@Sage04 wrote:Dont forget that the Pharmacist knows more about medications than the Dr. I´ve had my Pharmacist call and question my Dr about something he prescribed and he had no problem changing it because it would have affected me very badly, and this is a Dr that I had been going to for years.
That´s why all medications should be filled at the same Pharmacy.
You might want to consider a new doctor.

Wow .... I hope you will take the time to go to the Walgreens website and register a strong complaint.
I don't like the sound of this new trend, if that's what it is.

I'm on the fence with this one. Sometimes pharmacists catch things doctors don't.
