Saving this post to read more later for "inspiration"...I've started up again too (had over 3 months of no workouts from September bicycle accident, broken toe and bruised hands and knees)...finally able to do cardio on treadmill (too snowy and COLD in northeast to walk or run outside!) and my pilates reformer again...started after busy holidays. Have a great day, all~ ps. I <3 that Betty Boop pic~ Rockstars workin' out here. Smiley Happy

Burpees are a break for you?! Thanks Patty. And I was so proud of myself doing my little old basic routines. I was huffing, puffing pretty well throughout too. That's me in the background waving my hands crying "wait for meeee". Ha. Ah, so I've got my work cut out for me. Good to have goals.

Thanks again for that link to the gal in Wisconsin. The gleam in her eye, that's what I shoot for.

Bypass me please while I talk about sound sensitivity about Lucy with Patty. I don't mean to bore anyone, sorry. In the CGC class I instruct everyone to get a good distance from me as I prepare to drop a steel bowl as the sound distraction. I have all students hold a fistful of awesome treats near their dogs' nose at the ready. At the instant I drop the bowl I ask everyone to start the "jolly routine". Using a high yet soft, delightful Disney voice you exclaim happy gibberish "oh, what was that! she's a silly. isn't she clumsy? etc." Happy, happy, happy. Shovel treat after treat. Fireplace go boom sort of thing. I feel like a drip while I'm doing that - I've also reversed thunder phobia doing that very thing. It usually works over time. You could try feeding her by the fireplace for a time while sitting close by. We're trying to rebuild a good association with the fireplace. The trials are short & sweet and then just end it and go about life as usual. It's a non-event. Keep me posted. She's a toughy, she should pull out of it nicely.

My shepherds were sore and still not all that thrilled running for the ball in the teens. Thanks bopper for that reminder. My boys are older so need to ease back into their exercise.

Now that I've bored everyone about dogs!! Next post will be movement of some sort, promise.

Well, I lied. Why did I know as soon as I wrote that? Welcome amyb. This is a nice place for inspiration and motivation. I was jumping around to a couple of songs while I was preparing food for the kids (four-footers) yesterday. Dinner and a show! That sort of thing, pushing around snow ... sort of counts as exercise I think.

Morning, it's starting to warm up here into the mid 20's but they also said freezing rain...Booooo

This morning I did Treadmill Intervals again..trying to alternate running speeds for 35 minutes.

Wanted to snow shoe if it doesn't start raining later.

Welcome amby this is a great group, very motivating to see what others are doing.

Pppmint you the "Queen" {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Cannine, dancing around counts! You never bore me about dogs. My Logan needs some help! He keeps going into the neighbors back yard just past our lot line and riles up their dogs and he knows he isn't allowed . He just tromps through the deep snow right into the backyard of my neighbors and he is also bolting towards the street. I am in a subdivision so not super traffic but non the less he sees the neighbor shoveling her driveway and he bolts...I was not happy with him. Hubby wants me to get a low shock collar..not sure about that. I don't want to be mean....and some people would think I am mean if I do that...and please believe me I would never be mean...but he sure won't listen to me.

Judy sorry you aren't feeling all that well..just lay low...have to take care of yourself!

Nomless did I see you were getting some new dvd's? Which ones?

FUTURE hope your weekend is fun and enjoyable and you're not too sore!

Waving to all!

Morning everyone! My abs are still so sore from Thursday, last night I would wake up every time I tried to move, felt like I tore an organ...lol. I had a good work-out yesterday...did a bootcamp/kickboxing/circuit training mix. Sweating bullets AND enjoyable...can't beat that!

Raining and foggy here. They said on the news that we had over 70 accidents yesterday with the ice.

Dh did really well on his board yesterday. So that's over with and off his mind, now hopefully we can get our orders.

I got a pedi yesterday and the gel on my nails again. Not sure I'll be able to do both at the same time, I have trouble sitting still that long and was starting to get very antsy.

We might go to the Health & Fitness expo today. Not a great day to go though when it's raining because you'll have to walk in the city.

canine, I will try that...thanks! Even dh asked what the deal was with the fp...it's weird because it's something new. One night it made a particularly loud bang and that was it, she hates it now...lol. Yes, burpees and jumping jacks are a break for me during super hard sets...my Cross-Fit gang said I should enter a burpee contest. Of course that was then, and this is now.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} They bother my lower back and that is what I was doing when I went down on the mat at CrossFit in FL.

I didn't do much but sleep yesterday, it was foggy. How's that for an excuse? I did however motivate and/or nag my girlfriend into doing some tai chi and she got in some skiing besides. I was good for something~

Patty, that's kind of why I'm all over the board trying to figure out what exercises strengthen my core. My lower back was killing me while I washed my hair - unacceptable. Also a warning that I was doing or not doing something my body needed or needed me to stop.

OK, this is your warning to scroll right on over me. Dog behavior, sorry. You don't bring up an easy one, bopper. My first advice is always a tangible fence. Not always an option. A tie out might be my next option, but they can be down right dangerous and really need constant supervision.

I teach using almost pure positive reinforcement, so I'm biased, big time. In my heavy shelter days I met a lot of dogs traumatized by shock and invisible containment devices. If you would go either of those routes, get an experienced trainer with references. Preferably with experience with breeds other than hunting dogs. The big deal is timing. If it is even the slightest bit off one can punish the exact behavior you want. I'm really not a fan. Aggression/fear can get triggered rather easily too.

Logan is a herder and that's probably married with a touch of guarding. So anything off in the neighborhood is going to have to be alerted to and investigated (maybe herded). Hard-wired, so a training class would help gain cooperation, but probably not eliminate the running off behavior. I do highly recommend some sort of training, plenty of books and dvd's out there to choose from too. For me, what it has come to mean is learning to communicate the best way we can with another species and loving them even more.

Does that help at all? Apologies again for going way off topic. Yet another reason to exercise though. Trying to keep up with our little darlings and practice as little as possible the fact that they can outrun us, outsmart us or overpower us.

Morning,

Canine that does help and thank you. Yes he wants to herd everything LOL He is as smart as a whip but very stubborn. A Fence we can't afford but lately I take him back on his leash and then I stand and block the area he tries to use to go to the neighbors and tell him a firm NO, so that has worked. We'll get it figured out, thank you again.

Just came in from over an hour of snowshoeing in beautiful untouched fresh snow. What a beautiful place we live in.

Showering and making an Apple cinnamon bread!

Football later!

Pppmint Congratulations to DH for doing so well on his boards...I knew he would! Have fun at the expo if you go. I bet I would love that.

Waving to all !

Hey, all!! Went and saw Lone a Survivor last night. It was amazing, but hard to watch. Patty, tell you husband thank you for his service from me and give him a big hug, too! Same for anyone else with family that served. The story is just crazy, and I held up pretty well until the very, very end. I won't say much, so I don't ruin it for anyone. Woke up with a crazy headache, but popped some Advil and kept rolling. I lifted bis, tris, hams, and glutes today. Didn't have a ton of time, so tried to go a little heavier. Also did spin, of course, and cranked it in there, too. Had to run to two stores afterwards. Hubby and I are going to see a friend later, and we will probably pick up a late lunch. And we need dog food. Supposed to be 60 here today! Sure didn't feel like it earlier, though. Smiley Wink Ok, I need to get after a load of laundry. Hope you all have an awesome day!

Lol, everyone is doing laundry yesterday and today. Canine, don't worry about being o/t ... it'fun to read your advice about the pups. Future, I've heard good things about that movie, have seen several interviews with that guy. 45 min cardio done but all in all, this was a bad week for exercise. Missed a couple sessions. Tried to play the new dvds, a set of 3, but they won't play. Darn.
