I have eczema on the helix part and in the fold next to it on my ear. I hope it doesn't travel to the inside canal part. That sounds terrible and awfully irritating.

I have eczema in my ear. I have a Rx for a steroid/oil based drop that I put in my ear canal. It really helps.

Thanks, everybody, for the helpful replies!

Julie-23, maybe it could be from coloring your hair. Or being a diabetic with dry skin, plus coloring your hair.

I have seborrheic dermatitis in both ears (no where else) and my doctor prescribed Triamcinolone Acetone Cream USP. It works great, but if I stop using it, the dermatitis comes right back. I've had this condition for most of my life (my mother had it too), but it used to flare up only a couple of times a year and then go away. For the past several years, it never totally goes away.

@shaggygirl wrote:Something about putting a cream in my ear would not make me comfortable. Wouldn't it get cloggy? The Lidex someone mentioned is what I used to use when I had it so bad on my hands. My prescription for my ear is a lotion, it's watery. You tip your head, squeeze it in and then rub the wetness it creates around the part of your ear you can reach with your finger. Sometimes it stings for a second if I've been poking my finger in my ear (to see if my fingertip comes out all flaky during a flare-up) and my nail scratches it.
How much do you think they are putting in there? You only use a small dab on a q tip - not half a tube!

This is the same that I recommended Synalar Cream, is what I call it.

Does anyone have experience with resolving eczema in the inner ear? I do not have eczema elsewhere. I'm wondering, too, if anyone has been able to identify triggers for it. Often eczema can flare with certain foods. (I have been following an elimination diet for the past month.)
Thanks for any input!
@Julie_23 I never had it in my ear but have had it other places. I am not a Dr. but I feel that heat, nerves, and allergies all contribute to Eczema. Keep your ears dry. Make sure after a shower you dry them good then put the meds in. Good Luck, I would try changing shampoos. It cannot hurt.

WOW. I thought I was the only one that got eczema in my ear.lots of good rec's.
My biggest issue is making an appt with derm ( takes at least a month or more) and of course the day I go in my ear is fine. I have also been getting it behind the same ear. weird how it's only one side of our body.
