I don't have this brand but bought one from the Q ---was Home Medics brand that was a TSV early in 2020. Need to get it going again as we are in a snow- ma- geddon here is WA state and is very dry and cold.

That Sharper Image humidifier is more of an aroma machine than it is a humidifier. I have a different brand where it works the same way by adding oil to the water inside a reservoir. Just a word of advice...be careful what oils you put in there. Some oils are not good to breathe in, even though they may say they are and some are toxic to pets.

I do not have the one that you pictured. I purchased a humidifier from Amazon a short while ago that was reasonably price and had excellent reviews, that I use in my bedroom. I am very pleased with it.
You might want to check out Amazon.

I got an Air Innovation one from QVC I think earlier this year or maybe late last. They have one on site now that is similar but mine is bigger. I know it was also on Amazon at some point.
I keep it in my bedroom and I love it. The filter is washable and reuseable. It has an aromatherapy tray if you want to use it. It's very easy to clean and it lasts for several nights before I have to refill which is easy because it's a top fill so I just bring the pitcher over and dump more water in.
I clean it once a week. Rinse, wipe it out and then let it dry.

Brand: AirExpectal
Description from my Amazon account. Cool mist Humidifier for bedroom, Top fill humidifier with Essential Oil Diffuser whisper-quiet, Auto Shutoff easy clean, 24h Humidifying.
I paid $35.99 but I just went and checked my status and it states that it's no longer available. I purchased on December 5th and I can't believe that they are out already. However, there are plenty of others to choose from, just check out the reviews before making a decision.
Lastly, I am happy with the purchase.

I do the same with my humidifier. Keeping it clean is important.

I have two Air Innovations humidifiers. Those come with a permanent antibacterial filter which can be removed for rinsing off. That filter never needs to be replaced.
I use tap water in my humidifiers and my water is somewhat hard so that makes the humidifiers produce white dust...ugh! But here's the good news...I found a product which you can purchase to place inside the tank and it absorbs the minerals which create the white dust and it works like a dream. No more white dust.
These are demineralization cartridges. You can find them on Qvc (HoMedics) or f\find them cheaper on Amazon or eBay. Each cartridge is about the size of your thumb. I put two in one of my 1-1/2-gallon tanks. So far they seem to work for about 6 weeks and that's with running the humidifier almost all day, everyday. I think you need to experiment to find out just how long they last for you b/c your water may or may not be as hard as mine.

Sorry about my long post. But one more thing about those cartridges. When you first put a new one into the water it floats. So what I did to make it sink, to where it needs to be, is first place the cartridge(s) into a watertight Tupperware-type container, fill it almost full and then give it a good shake until you see the cartridges sink down to the bottom. Take them out and put them in your tank and make sure they sink to the bottom or at least half-way down, as long as they aren't floating. If they stay afloat then repeat the process until they sink.
