One thing I heard was to wash between your fingers. I wash my hands a lot normally because I'm outside a lot and I have dogs. I never use hand sanitizer, but I always carry wipes.

I've seen this recipe a lot, but cannot find aloe vera gel anywhere. It would be nice to have for times when soap and water are not available.

@Xivambala   Check in the suntan lotion section.   It's great for sunburns.

I see it online at Walmart but it looks like it's only available for purchase in store.  Not sure if they are flying off the shelves like other products seem to be.

To get the proper percentage of alcohol over 60% to make it a hand sanitzer,  it is 2/3 cup 99% isopropyl alcohol and 1/3 cup aloe vera gel (the emolient.) If using 70% ispropyl alcohol it is 9 parts alcohol and 1 part aloe vera gel.

I made this recipe for the hand stuff too and I added a few drops of tea tree to it. Now I don't bathe in the stuff and really never use hand santi at all except for during chemo years ago and when I am out and about--which isn't very much these days---all this stuff dries out your skin as does soap and hot water--by the end of the day my hands are just awful---use some sense here----

Medical professionals are telling people to QUIT making their own hand sanitizers.  It's dangerous.  Soap & water work better and are much easier on your skin.  There are so many people over-reacting.

It's easy to make your own sanitizer.

5 cups water

1 to 1.5 capfuls of bleach.

Put in a spray bottle or jar or whatever.

Yes, bleach is tough on hands.  But this is not all about me.  It's about cleaning my house in a way to help protec myself from passing the virus on to anyone I run into when I walk or have groceries delivered or spray a package before I open it.  Use lotion on your hands.
