Awesome! That's an accomplishment. I wish I could get more steps in with my dogs, but one of them is 16 years old - she loves the first half mile, then promptly refuses to walk any further. Lol. I wish I got extra steps for walking home while carrying a 12 pound dog.

Oh- that is good for your bone density! Some people wear a weighted vest... you can carry your dog!Smile

I bought a FitBit One as a Christmas present to myself. Just got my 750 mile badge on Sunday. It certainly keeps me motivated to get a minimum of 10,000 steps a day. Many days I'm at 12,500 and can hit 15,000 if I'm focused. Even hit 20,000 one day. Hard to do some days since I have a desk job from 6 am to at least 3:30pm.

I'm 42 years old. Down 19 pounds, 16 to go. Down 84 pounds since my all time heaviest. Lost 80 pounds after I got out of college, gained it all back plus. Lost most of it again and gained it all back again. I'm convinced that this little tool will keep my at or around my goal weight once I get there (again). AT the very least, it keeps my conscious of my movement.

Good for you racecar31!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

My son had one that he bought elsewhere. He ended up returning it because there are so many free phone apps that can be used to track walks/runs, calories burned, etc.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5, I think it's the newest Samsung phone right now. It has lots of nice apps built into it including once for tracking my walks. It even offers music right on the app screen and it is MY music I have loaded on my phone. I really liked that. Plus, it is GPS based so it showed where I walked, the distance and the time. Very nice.

But the drawback is that I have to turn it on to record my walk and I have to turn it off when I get in a moving vehicle. I forgot about all that and had it on to walk at home, then we drove to the mall for something. I was so excited to see how much I actually walked and was shocked to see it was over 11 miles!! Of course I didn't walk 11 miles. The car did most of that Smiley Wink

So my fitbit may not be perfect but it can't make the mistake of counting my car's mileage as part of my workout Smiley Wink I also don't have to turn it on and off.

I still want my fitbit. The phone's app will be nice when I intentionally take a long walk and want to know how far it is.

I love earning the badges! So far I have my 5, 10, and 15K steps badges. I want to know what other badges there are so I can work towards more badges Smiley Happy

There are 20K and higher badges.

My best friend and I did 20K every day on the beach on our annual get together in FLA.

I do about 15K every day now.

I LOVE my FitBit Zip!

Re: How's everyone doing with their Bitfit????

I want to remind newbies that many of the posters are talking about different types of Fitbits. Terrier just mentioned she loves her FitBit Zip. I love my FitBit Flex. I know someone on these forums has the recalled FitBit Force and kept hers because she liked it and didn't have a problem with it causing a rash (reason for its recall.) There is also one called FitbitOne and I'm sure it has its followers too!

Make sure that if you have questions about your specific type that you get information on that type. Someone above mentioned that she dropped hers twice and had to get it replaced both times. I've seldom dropped my Flex mostly because it's on my wrist Smiley Wink But if it's in the band it is protected anyway. I have dropped it while I was trying to put it in the charger and it didn't seem to damage it at all.

Someone else put hers through the washer and it was done. Smiley Sad I've gone swimming in mine lots of times and it is fine.

Mine doesn't need battery replacements. But it does need to be recharged every 5 days. It's a faster charge if you plug the ""dongle"" into something like a phone charger with the USB port. Then it is charging at a wall instead of in your computer. I'm not sure how often you have to replace batteries in the others but I bet it's not every 5 days Smiley Wink Some people probably prefer to not have to charge one.

If you don't like to wear a band on your wrist you won't like the Fitbit Flex. I like it because for 5 days it's a ""wear it and forget it.""

I'm sure others will share why they like their type better!

Re: How's everyone doing with their Bitfit????

I had the first Fitbit. It was a clip on, don't know what it was called. But you could see your steps, miles and I think calories burned right on the device. It had a growing flower and the closer you got to your goal, the flower would grow. It was cute. I forgot abut it though and it went into the washing machine. Now I got the flex and its ok. You need your phone app though to see your steps etc or your computer. Thats one of the draw backs to the flex for me.

I have enlisted one of my dogs as my walking partner too. I have two dogs, but my Pomeranian can't walk that far so it's up to my loyal chihuahua mix to accompany me. A gentleman commented on my bitty walking partner today (I walk really fast so it's more like power walking) but my dog enjoys it and I enjoy his company.
