Thought I would share this as I and so many other people I've talked to lately knew nothing about it. A couple of weeks ago I was in the hospital for a couple of days having every test you can have for a stroke. Thankfully it was not a stroke.  About 2 1/2 to 3 yrs. ago it was.

There is now therapy you can get for it.  Not just the normal neck exercises they give you. A therapist came in and took me through it. It went totally away and hasn't  come back since! I have talked to others (even my dentist) who say they had never heard of this and they had relatives who they would tell....so thought I would share it here.

@jubilant  Good morning! I have episodes of vertigo, not fun. I also get dizzy spells if I move me head too fast. My doctor suggested "vestibular physical therapy". Is that what the therapist in the hospital did with you?

@jubilant   My niece's husband recently started experiencing vertigo.  He was prescribed an anti-depressant.   My DB is a physician.   He told me anti-depressants aren't only used for depression,   It seems to have worked for my niece's husband.

I'm not sure what they called it but they had me set on the bed legs in front of me....back towards end of bed.  Then they had me turn my head to the right for 45 seconds then the therapist put her hands on my head and had me fall backwards fast while still holding my head. It worked!  I shortened this a little so don't try this without full instructions.  There's one more thing to do at the end. I have not had  a vertigo attack  since that moment!

They did prescribe me something called

Meclizine 3 x a day.  I only took 1 when I came home from the hospital and have never had to take another one! It has sedative side effects for sure.

I wanted to add that I can make an appointment for more therapy at the hospital if needed. So far so good!

Sounds like the Epley Maneuver.  It's not new.  It's to re-position crystals that form in your ear and then move into a bad place in the ear canal.  However, when I had it done at my ear Dr.'s FYZICAL Balance Center, there was no falling back quickly. Everything was done slowly and gently.

I always thought it had to be done quickly, but she said no.  But, it was most important to start by turning your head towards the offending ear first.  I've never known which ear is the offending one though.

One year I had vertigo about 5 times maybe more but then it suddenly stopped and I can't attribute it to the epley maneuver because I was getting vertigo during that time.

What I changed and it may in fact be coincidental but I stopped eating at fast food completely including Subway, Carl Jrs, KFC and Taco Bell.

I wasn't really into taking vitamins per se but did include protein powder and bone broth collagen from mercola.  I haven't had vertigo all during the pandemic and all during the extremely stressful time when my husband got sick and then passing away. Dealt with many issues regarding taking care of bills, etc, mortuary and still no vertigo.

Unfortunately, I have vertigo frequently.  Once it was really bad and I had the Mezcaline (sp).

Sort of figured out on my own that often it is due to my not drinking enough fluids. Mostly happens when changing position.

I have Meneires disease, so frequent vertigo.  One of the things that definitely brings mine on is salt.  So the fast food aspect makes perfect sense, along with enough hydration.
