@jubilant.  Sounds like a version of the Eppley Maneuver.  I had a PT do it to me and it worked for about 2 weeks.

@jubilant 🌼

A couple years ago I went to a Vestibular Therapist for my balance issues and after a few weeks of not seeing any improvement she did that same exact maneuver on me.

She explained how it had something to do with moving Crystals into place.

You were lucky ! It didn’t work for me. It actually made my condition worse. Probably why she didn’t do it at the start.

I’ve heard if you’ve had vertigo before you are more prone to get it again.

An inner ear infection caused my Vertigo years ago.

Being off balance though is not the same as Vertigo.

My off balance issues started when I was prescribed Omeprezole for acid reflux. I called the Pharmacist who told me, Yes you will be off balance, but as long as you’re not falling down keep taking it. 🥴

Only a couple of times in the distant past I had bad vertigo episodes, nausea and the whole nine yards. Doctor told me it was from dehydration. Thought I was drinking enough water but apparently not. Getting older means dehydration can occur more easily. So these days I stay hydrated and I haven't had vertigo since those days in the past. tg.

Sounds like a form of the Epley move.  I had this done a couple of times and it made me so deathly sick - and besides that, it didn't work!  I said -- nope -- never again. I don't know what helps me, but I believe that reducing salt and drinking more fluids does help.

I had a couple of episodes of postional vertigo and my chiro dr did a hands on thing that settle the "crystals" that get out of whack in the ears. You can do the same thing on yourself --I haven't yet but will look it up. Not sure what the name of the procedure is but it doesn't hurt. Look on youtube.

Some folks use Bonine OTC.  Maybe 1/4 or 1/2 of a tablet to begin with.  Of course, read all precautions and interactions with your meds, and always ask your doc.

Years and years ago, my DM's physical therapist gave her various exercises.

One was staring at a single object from a distance away.

Sitting, and then progressing to standing and staring at the object.

Holding onto a chair or walker for balance.

That exercise is the only one that I recall.  I don't know what happened to the pages of exercises and illustrations.

The best of luck and a complete recovery.

P.S.  Come to think of it, my DDad was prescribed Antivert.  Years and years before my DM's mild episode of vertigo.  Triggered by riding an elevator and/or being on a large commuter type of boat.

It's most likely similar to Bonine and / or it possibly is available OTC. ?

Again, consult you doctor.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think it does sound like that Epley Manuever.
