Like yourself, I too along with many others, appreciate it when a person comes back and lets us know their results. I understand that some do not want to share some of their medical specifics, but reading what others have experienced in serious health issues, can and does help many others. At times that information may save someone's life.
All of my treadmill stress tests(at least 25-30 of them) have been Maximal Stress Tests, as opposed to age/health related Protocols. With those, especially when a person is pretty physically fit, have to have an Echo while their Heart Rate is still as high as possible. That is why the treadmill is so close to the bed where they have the Echo Equipment ready to go as fast as possible.
Much of one's physical fitness is defined by how quickly their heart rate returns to the normal range, and if too much time is taken, that is not as informative when looking for certain defects in the heart. That is the reason I always had the Maximal Treadmill Protocols, as the more information can be seen when the heart is at, or close to it's maximum BPM.
Too many people, even those with serious heart disease, do not know or want to know these specifics when it comes to measuring their physical fitness. With or without suffering from heart disease, I really don't understand those reasons. Even with my twice damaged heart, my level of physical fitness, which eases strain on the whole Cardiovascular System, is of top importance to me in assessing my abilities to continue with my types of exercise training.
Sounds to me like you have no heart related issues in relation to reaching into your Anerobic heart rate level. Appears your only limitation would be something related to your Pulmonary Systems ability to reach it's upper levels in relation to your Maximal Oxygen Uptake(Max Vo2).
Unlike your "waiting room" experience, my experiences with 72 Cardiac Rehabilitation Classes, was probably closer to a 75/25% number, with woman being the majority in those classes. Now that could be that men, for some reason strange to me, seem to think once the pain or initial issue is resolved, they can pick up where they were pre-diagnosis. Woman on the other hand want to follow through to be as good as they can be, in spite of serious health related diagnosis.
Good health and fitness to you,
hckynut(john)
