@kaydee50

Worked in a very loud factory for over 30 years. We were required to take a hearing test every 6 months. Retired 30 years ago and haven't had one, or felt the need to do so at this time.

Since the tests were done on "company" time? Do for me getting into an air conditioned part of the company? The longer the tests took the better. Took my time walking to that cool part of the facility, and slower walking back.

I had my hearing checked over Christmas by an audiologist at the request of my student doctor niece. She works there when school isn't in session.

After the test I was informed I have no hearing in my right ear.  Also a hearing aid would not help at all since turning the hearing aid louder would muffle all sounds to the right ear.

I have heard many places can be rip offs so be wary before you make a purchase.

He will refer me to a specialist if I opt for a (name escapes me) transplant.

@OKPrincess I think you're referring to a cochlear implant.

The academic credential for "audiologist" is CCC AUD. This stand for "Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology" and is a legitimate credential.

Antyone can refer to h/h self as "audiologist" but "CCC" means the top level of training.

I see my ENT once a year and his in-house audiologist does the hearing test.

That's my routine, too.
