Yes! I do!

I saw this doctor on PBS and I am already eating grain free. I told a friend about the book. She had a mother with dementia and has always worried about getting it. I thought she would be excited about knowing grains could be a cause! Instead, she mentioned it to her doctor, of course he said it was nonsense! She also called her doctor asking him about taking probiotics, when I suggested it. He said the same..how sad that some are so influenced by their doctors, that they miss out on a good thing, imo! Thats the last time I make a suggestion!

I read the book and agree with Dr. Perlmutter, I think he is correct. I find it sad that so many physicians give bad advice to their patients. We need to do everything we can to prevent inflammation.

I much prefer it to breadcrumbs. Thanks for the suggestion, that would be an easy alternative while adding more nutritional benefits and no gluten. My mom always used crushed up "dutch rusk" or bread crumbs so I just followed by tradition. I'm assuming you use something like regular Quaker Oats and not steel cut?
Not all oatmeal is gluten free.
And gluten is not the only health issue when it comes to grains. Grain brain is not about avoiding gluten.
I'm aware of that. My response was specific to the poster's concern about avoiding gluten by using oatmeal.

I saw him last weekend on FoxNews' Carol Alt show. He was interesting. I reserved his book from the library. Will let you know what I think. I'm still not convinced about a gluten-free diet for people with no health issues.

Heard of the title but not having read it, I'm somewhat confused. Is this a gluten free diet? I've always thought whole grains and oatmeal were good for you.

His book is not about gluten. It is about grains. Quite an eye-opener if you still think grains are healthy.
The book discusses the science that supports modern grains not being healthy for any human beings, even whole grains; that is just marketing.

Aren't oats a grain? I'm confused. What grains are you cutting out? Which ones are supposed to be bad for you? I can't wrap my mind around the idea that bread (the staff of life, they used to call it) is now popularly viewed as toxic. I thought whole grains were supposed to be good for you.
