@Kachina624 : I called my friend in Tennessee. Her husband has a family history like that of you and your sister. She highly recommended the medicine that you mentioned and stated both are taking it..

I had lazer treatments on both of my eyes years ago for impending glaucoma problems. Stopped it in its tracks. I do suffer from retiinopathy though which I get treatments about every 3 months or so. I had a heck of a time having my cataracts done. My recovery was pretty bad. Much blurriness until my new lenses settled down. My vision is good now! Yay!

I've had glaucoma for over 10 yrs. The prescription eye drops (Latanaprost to start and just switched to Lumigan) are essential to keeping progression under control. I also take Lessman Ultimate Eye Support supplements.

@ID2 So glad I read your comment - I had cateract surgery on my first eye last week - so far, I'm not to impressed with the results...seems that my field of vision as narrowed, maybe swelling? It's been 5 days since the surgery..I'm getting a little nervous !

@SouthernBee The AREDS2 is not for glaucoma but is used for macular degeneration. My mom has severe macular degneration and has taken AREDS2 for a number of years now (she is 97). Her macular degeneration has pretty much plateaued for quite awhile (she goes to opthalmologist twice a year). So, AREDS2 is not for every eye problem. I am sure your doctor will have some recommendations for you. Good luck! We need our eyes.

Just finished my cataract surgery , yesterday was the second eye , I week earlier the first eye . I can't get over how well l can see now , everything is so bright . I now have 20/20 close up vision , no readers for me . I will probably need glasses for far away vision since one eye is really bad . They check for glasses at about the 4 week after surgery since it takes a whole month to heal completely . So happy l got it done !

@sarahpanda ..you should contact your doctor if you feel like your field of vision is not normal. I'm not talking about blurry vision but a narrower or abnormal field of vision.

Yes, I had pretty bad swelling. My eyesight was blurry when I woke up in the mornings and as the day went on it got clear. My doctor was stumped. In going through my medical history he immediately got me in to see my ophthalmologist. Having retinopathy, I need to get regular "treatments" (eye injections). When I started in again with the injections, my vision cleared. I only wear glasses for reading now.
